Backstory
As a child, Matt's parents were killed in a car accident while he was at home. Consumed with grief and not wanting replacements for the parents he loved, he chose to run away rather than live with foster parents. By the age of 19, Matt had been homeless, living on the street, and accepting donations from the generous, though he was living with his good friend Bernie, who kept him away from drugs and crime. During his life on the street, Matt encountered many individuals, including superheroes, who showed him compassion and sympathy.
While treading through the snow one cold winter, he was found by Falcon, who claimed to have chosen him for his potential for great good and offered him the chance to become the second Streak. Only too happy to disregard his life of poverty and hunger, he eagerly accepted, and Falcon granted him the same strength and powers as the first Streak. They immediately set out to acquire his first costume from Toby, the superhero tailor. Out of respect for the first Streak, and for the practicality of the design, Matt chose to have the same costume as his predecessor. Suited up and feeling like he had been reborn, he proudly accepted the title of Streak.
However, his early work as a superhero left much to be desired, resulting in him frequently being beaten and/or captured by the bad guys. He is usually known as one of the most ineffective superheroes in Beacon City next to his predecessor, and one of the most fearful.
Powers/Skills/Gear
Energy Aura: When moving rapidly, Falcon’s aura manifests a trail of blue energy, making him resemble a blue streak in the night sky, hence why he chose the name "Streak". This blue energy also propels him, allowing him to not only leap and run faster but also allows him to run up the side of buildings.
Enhanced Condition: Falcon enhances virtually every aspect of Matt’s physical abilities. He can tire out 10x longer than any normal person, jump two storeys high, hold his breath for roughly ten minutes at maximum, sprint at 10 metres a second, and has a reaction time of 50 milliseconds. His agility and dexterity allow him to perfectly manage every part of his body with acrobatic perfection, his senses are heightened to at least three times that of any normal person, his flesh can withstand a strike from an average hammer without bruising, his maximum lifting strength is two tons, and he has just enough power to punch clean through a steel car chassis. His enhanced immune system makes him invulnerable to all but the most powerful diseases but is limited against toxins, drugs, and alcohol.
Psychic Navigation: Falcon can extend his presence outward and allow Streak to see what he sees, able to explore an area remotely, with “omni-sight”.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Streak’s enhanced healing allows him to repair a broken bone in roughly a single hour when remaining immobile.
Sanitization: Falcon’s aura vibrates and breaks down dirt particles on Streak’s body and costume. The more matter to be disposed of, the longer this takes.
Self-Power Augmentation: Streak’s powers gradually double in strength every ten months.
Self-Sustenance: Streak has no need to drink, eat, or sleep.
Semi-Immortality: As long as he is bonded to Falcon, Streak does not age.
Spiritual Symbiosis: Streak shares his body with “Falcon”, the inter-dimensional energy being who guides him with a disembodied voice and empowers him.
Transformation: At will, Streak can change his fur colour white and eye colour blue. This can be reversed at any time and allows him to conceal his identity.
Personality & Relationships
Positive Traits: Cautious, compassionate, considerate, focused, intelligent, perceptive, and selfless.
Negative Traits: Bad-tempered, emotional, insecure, introverted, shy, socially awkward, submissive, and underestimates himself.
Likes: Relaxing under the stars, running and leaping, massages, the flute, reading, his mother’s macaroni & cheese, hot chocolate, and hot dogs.
Dislikes: Smug villains, cruel villains, parties, rain, and failure.
Quirks: Sarcastic.
Fears: Losing his powers, being hopeless, being helpless, and being alone.
Motivation: He loves Beacon City for the people who were so generous to him while he was homeless, and is motivated by the desire to help them in return, living by the simple creed “Heroes for heroes.” He wants Falcon to be proud of him, trying to be the best superhero he can.
Friends & Family: Matt has something of a father-son relationship with Falcon, frustrated by Falcon's stoic, demanding nature and high expectations, but loves him like a father due to the fatherly concern Falcon holds for him, even though he rarely shows it. He still misses his parents more than anything.
Romantic Interests: None
Nemeses: Manasa
Weaknesses
As strong as he is, Streak is not immune to sharp objects and bullets. His insecurities about himself can lead to a great deal of self-doubt.
He is not very sure of himself and frequently underestimates his capabilities. This occasionally fills him with insecurities about his own potential, which sometimes proves to be a weakness.
Matt is torn between a desire for a family and his aversion to seeking replacements for the one he lost. He has a deep repressed desire for someone to be above him and make decisions for him, like his parents, which can affect his willpower to the point that he can potentially submit to some of the more “influential” villains.
Development
I just thought up Matt when I decided I wanted a quick sequel to Final Story of Streak. Like that, this was a one-off, and I didn’t expect to create to create a whole series out of him! Streak II getting enslaved permanently was the original intention, but I had already grown attached to Streak by that point, so I decided to make it into a series.
