I started reading the Discworld series by the late Terry Pratchett. The series is a parodying fantasy novels. The Discworld is a fictional flat planet (?) on the back of four (?) elephants which are on the back of A'Tuin a giant turtle of indeterminate gender.
The first book in the series, The Colour of Magic (not relevant to the plot, but in this series, the literal color of magic is called Octarine, said to be a mix of Green, Purple, or Gold) The story revolves around the Discworld's first tourist: Twoflower (in gold), an irrepressibly optimistic man with a suitcase that's reminiscent of a mimic. He arrives in the city of Ankh-Morpork and gets as his guide the cowardly incompetent wizard, Rincewind (in green). Due to a spell stuck in Rincewind's head, our duo wind up on many misadventures being hurdled across the Disc. Last but certainly not least is Discworld's death (in purple). He is probably the most popular character in the series. Because of their training, wizards can actually see and communicate with Death as well as be claimed personally by Death at the end of life.
