All Your Base Belong to Us - Horn Base WIP for my Dragonhead
I am making the mounting base for the foam horns out of a cardboard tube with a foam rubber bottom. I got these very strong neodymium magnets from the scrap pile at work so I can detach the horns for easier transport.
I orginally used only one magnet on the pad pad but I found that the front bottom part of the base would not lay flat when I did a test fitting on the fursuit head. So I had to rip out the foam pad and added a second magnet. Now it lies down much flatter.
The magents are so strong that they want to rip out and fly toward each other. I placed them as far apart as I could but they still tilt toward each other. So I added a scrap metal plate on top so that they lay flat and don't try to tear apart as much. Lots of hot glue to help in that too.
I am going to wrap the base with a foam sheet and then glue the same teal farbic that the rest of my dragonhead is made. Hopefully it'll look fabulous.
