so we had stopped at this antique place the last one that I wanted to go to first after going to a certain area and it was pouring down rain like crazy in this lady that we had seen once we stopped was struggling to get a table onto a dolly I decided to run out and help her and load it on and put it inside the shop itself and started to look around a little bit and I had found this radio. sitting there and I was interested in it so I asked about it and she goes well you want to plug it in first and see if it works and we'll figure out a price for it and I was like yeah sure doesn't hurt to plug and see if it plays and it didn't make a noise so she's just like well I'll just give it to you since you helped out and I said well thank you I really appreciate that and makes my day and then I got home and later decided to plug it back in and got it almost all the way into the wall and it decides to play so I was just startled at the same time because the volume was apparently all the way up and then I realized pretty awesome that I got a free radio and we didn't think that it would even work

I'm not familiar with the brand, so I googled it, and of course they have ten products for various applications...
The contact cleaner might work, if you can get it into the volume potentiometer. That should help it if dirt is the problem.
Ah! did a little more searching, and the contact cleaner is the right stuff to use! Worst case scenario, it won't change anything. The pot could just plain be worn out, or have a "hole" in it that makes a dead spot at certain levels.
the other problem is a broken solder joint. That would need some fresh solder.
A good test for a dirty pot is to spin the volume dial up and down. If you hear a lot of static / crackle, that's a dirty pot.
Good luck! =^^=

It did have static crackle I sprayed some in today and used a small flat head and turn it back/forth will try later when I get home tonihht.
Also did you check out that G scale train? I got fresh batteries of Eveready and the train turns on but the gears aren't doing well in contact to move the wheels it will move an inch forward/back but if I do it by hand it will make the typical clicking/clacking you expect I just need a smaller screw driver to open it up and see what it's doing
