Even before he came to the adventuring school and found himself as the second on Reynard's team, Brantan had completely changed his society forever. In his society where flight was everything, wingless individuals were regarded as less than nothing. It wasn't unusal for a wingless son or daughter to end up as a servant in their own household, denied even the basic right of associating with their families except as labor.
Though Brantan was spared that fate because of his parents' position in their community and their disdain for the practice, he still suffered the scorn and derision of his siblings. Using his greater intelligence and often pioneering his way into technology completely unknown to his kind, Brantan managed to engineer wings of a lightweight but very sturdy and stretchable metallic fabric that with the help of the jetpack of his own design, proved to be superior in performance and capability when compared to the natural wings of his kind. Once he demonstrated their construction, the balance of his society completely shifted. Brantan himself quelled the resulting chaos by engineering a device that shut down all of the new wings but his own until an agreement amongst all his people was reached. Once they had and things were peaceful once again, they asked Brantan to be their leader but he declined, not being nearly adept at handling people and politics as he was machines. Instead he focused on the puzzle of space travel and was due to make his maiden flight in his craft when he was offered a spot at the adventurers' school.
He quickly became friends with Reynard who loved the gadgets and gizmos that Brantan could devise, a frienship that led to him being the second on Reynard's team once first year was over and teams of students were organized. He went on to rescue a black vixen, Jessica Jordan, from certain death after a malfunction caused her plane's engines to tear themselves apart and went on to marry her after she became a student at the school. The pair had one daughter, Althea (who has an alternate dimension counterpart of the same name on the same world as Todd, Danielle, and their friends and family).

Thanks Cyberhorn. I've used this wing design for a couple of characters. One is supposed to be based on The Rocketeer and the wings have a sort of art deco look to them so you'll probably be seeing the design again. For the knife I wanted something that could expand and collapse so it could be stored on his gauntlets for the times when he doesn't need them. They're supposed to have some sort of connector to the gauntlets too so he doesn't lose them if he somehow loses his grip on the handle. The connector is servo powered so it will return the blade to his hand unless he thinks to the gauntlet to put it away.
