Ironcially this is the first boss and yet he's the third one I've done this week!
Anyway everyone meet Huge-Frogger, a kaiju who (in my opinion) has a cool design that picks up the slack of his funny name. Also he is both my favorite boss in the Neo-Geo and Nintendo versions, as well as one of my favorite monsters to play as in the sega version.
He's piss easy in the Nintendo version, but tbh that version did have dumbed down difficulty. Not that it's a bad thing anyway, lol. But n the Neo-Geo version, if you just started he gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect in the game. To put simply: he will whip your ass when you first start out.
What's interesting is his stage is "American City" where for some reason all the monuments and features of the US such as the White House, a football stadium, a big ass rocket ship, and the golden gate bridge among others are all found in this one new york looking city. After marching through the city knocking jet planes out of the sky and getting the oh so needed power-ups, we make our way to round two against juiced kermit!
As I said before this guy will beat the shit out of you when you first start out, but you can keep him down by using some of your attacks sometimes you'll miss. He also likes to pull a DBZ and teleport all over the place, and if he's not doing that he will make HUGE leaps and bounds. Occasionally he'll open his helmet to reveal he has a fish face and shoot laser beams out of his mouth. I recall when my bro and I first fought him on the SNES version, we were taking turns kicking him up and down the curb while, for some reason Pop-Eye and Bluto were beatboxing in the background. No seriously hear it for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y76iGi5DpgI
I also find hugefrogger has a rather arrogant and headstrong personality as before you even traverse the level he guns for you. Though I assume it's to test your strength. Whether you win or lose that first scuffle he will step away and taunt you with his hands on his hips as he laughs. He will continue to mock you in this way if he manages to win a grapple fight. Then he LEAPS up into the air and comes straight back down to slam your poor kaiju face into the pavement.
Again he's not the hardest boss but that's simply because he is one of the first. And also, one of my favorites.

I was well experienced in spamming both the kick and punch versions of his teleport. I could almost accurately mimic the OP compie version with four absurd teleports and an nearly accurate mimic of his triple lazer blasts at close range (which strangely had triple the effect in DMG and stun over the single longer lazer blast).
Huge Frogger was probably my favorite monster for PvP. I mean there were other, more OP monsters like the snail that can also pull off an impossible triple shot; slide with insta-grapple-win; or the six eyed bat thing that could rush-tripplewhip-Grapple-win; or the infuriating space scorpion with slowing effect.
Huge Frogger was so much fun! I'm looking for a VR Chat model now.

Hugefrogger also had a catchy as fuck tune to boot. I remember the genesis version music, aside from Geon he was a fave.
snail? you mean aqua slug? or sack-eyes as he's also been known.
And the bat thing in question is Lavicus, and of course the scorpion is Beetle Master If I recall. XDD

I rediscovered the characters and I remember that most monsters had a secret attack not mentioned in the manual, but would be done by the computer opponent anyways. My faves best to worst:
1. Huge Frogger- As mentioned, I could pull off a quad-tele, ending at a confusing location with a tripple beam blast. If not that, Huge Frogger would slide kick into an insta-grapple. Huge Frogger was all about the cheese.
2. Cyber Woo- The hitboxes of Sega games were interesting and the computer was aware of the flaws and would take full advantage of it. I almost perfected a mirror of Cyber-Woo's secret dashing hurricane kick, where much like Ken from SF2 Turbo, would catch the enemy more than 3 times , often from both sides as un-defendable, for greater damage. Cyber-Woo was frustrating to fight because his moves could also be canceled early to pull off an insta-grapple after starting a dash hurricane through half the distance of the map. Cyber-woo could deal out the close combat while being a frustration to avoid.
3. Aqua Slug- The secret move was an ice ball, but again could be tripled for an undefendable freeze or confusion. Combined with the diagonal shell dance and cancel, you'd either get frozen by insta-graple or the ice shots. But either way, was very annoying.(whirlpools weren't even a thing that the computer would bother with as there was always greater destruction potential from the initial shell dance. Being frozen time and time again gets old when you can't do anything and becoming dazed resulted in an inevitable, un-defendable sliding triple box spin or triple shot.
4. Eifelyt- I believe it's secret move was that it could absorb energy instead of health, which in a race to be first to super, is pure frustration. There were a number of things that could cancel and combo and that's where it became overwhelming.
5. Super Geon- The secret move was actually similar to Wolverine's secret X, where S.Geon would dash forward and perform a win/loss gamba where damage would be received if the dash attack failed, but more damage felt and double dealt if successful. It was an extremelly high stakes sacrifice move that would deal massive damage to the enemy, and combined with a double fire wave, was risky to be on the recieving end of.
So, actually, my main was Cyber-woo, just as my SF2 Turbo main was Ken for the very reason that the sliding hurricane kick was triple the threat with the chance of being un-defendable.
If the player could successfully pull off a cancel in the game, it opened up so many more tactics that weren't in the manual also considering that most of the monsters each had a secret move. It was obviously one of my favorite games ever.
