Clove and Coriander were twins born to a low ranking saiyan couple who bitterly wanted to raise their status but were far too weak to do so themselves. However the children proved promising power levels for being infants and so they were assured training when they reached the appropriate age. However, their father was a very jealous and sexist individual and although he prized his growing son, his disdain for being birthed a daughter who was determined to be more powerful than him at the peak of her youth, grew even deeper in hate for her existence. Resorting to abuse to vent his disgust, he battered and drove her down into humiliating submission, even managing to nearly kill her. This resulted in a head injury that would scar her for life and in addition to the abuse, would hinder her social and emotional capabilities amongst the typical saiyan culture. Their mother was bent to her husband's will and stood back allowing this to happen, although in horror to witness, neglected in taking any action all the same. There came a time however when Corianders seething hatred for his father was fueled to power his intents and once he was old enough, overpowered his father and murdered him, though not quickly or painless by any means to avenge his beloved sister and save her from her torment.

As the ages past Coriander made his way through the ranks proving his skills in combat while Clove had easily been left behind, though her brother worked doubly as hard to train Clove privately at home everything he had mastered to the best of his abilities, her brother the only one able to draw her potential out and shine, to focus her energy past her anxieties and limitations.

When Coriander was high rank enough be given his own rightful living accommodations and select an underling of his choosing, he pulled Clove through, taking further custody of his sisters well being.
