Personality: Deep down in there, there's a pure girl who wants nothing more than for the world to enjoy her music. But decades of being pulled one way or another by the music industry has twisted her cognition of the world, and left her bitter, desperate to remain relevant, and no longer confident in her star power. Afraid of losing her popularity, she harshly deals with anything that could taint her career, without any mercy or thoughts of the consequences of her actions. She's impulsive, and a bit of a bitch until you break through to the real her, deep down inside. A scared little girl in a cutthroat industry.
History: Born in Kalos to an opera singer mother and her conductor husband, Persephone went without want or need for the majority of her life. Her mother was supportive in her endeavors as a rising pop star as a young teenager, but refused to let her sign any labels or sell her music. Craving attention and affection that comes with stardom, Persephone quickly rushed into a contract at the tender young age of 17 with a businessman from Johto, to become a teen idol overseas before it was too late! But it was all a trick, a trap, and she was taken advantage of, coerced into committing all manner of shady, unsavory acts for other rich folk... She returned home, pregnant and ashamed, her budding career ruined. Her mother suddenly became very cold towards her, harsh in her judgement, lamenting that the family's tradition of being musical stars was ruined by Persephone's impatience. In her rage, she disowned and abandoned her only daughter, leaving her to raise the child alone. Desperate, she turned to her only friend at the time, a Goodra named Galleta, to take her in and help her get back onto her feet.
She gave birth to an underweight little girl, a girl she named Penthesilea. While living with Galleta's family, she spent much of her time repairing her damaged reputation, covering up the tabloids with dirt on other celebrities of the time, even working on a plus-sized clothing label that became a huge success thanks to Kalosian's penchant for fashion. Day by day, inch by inch, she clawed her way back into social status, at the cost of being absent for a majority of her daughter's upbringing. It should have been absolutely no surprise to anyone ever that her daughter would come to not only resent her for choosing career over family, but that she'd also care more for the people who actually raised her than her mother who was largely absent for most of her life but... It came as a great shock to the woman when it came time Penthesilea was old enough to get into the family business, and she chose not to.
Outraged, Persephone began the cycle anew, all but disowning her daughter in favor of maintaining her career, only visiting out of obligation, and the hopes that one day, her daughter would do the right thing in her eyes and be a singer, just like her mother. All this did was push the poor girl further and further away, to the point she had her name changed to Baille to represent her dream of being a dancer, rather than a singer. Persephone treats the girl as if she no longer exists, and even gives her lumps of money every month to live alone in a beach home off in Alola, if only until she comes to her senses! She resents Galleta, and blames HER for corrupting her innocent daughter, and does everything she can to impact the Goodra's life the same way she felt hers was.
Today, she is a moderately popular artist who specializes in vintage music, one of the last defenders of mass-produced vinyl music, designer of plus-sized clothing, affordable makeup brands, and hipster bait all around. She's terribly afraid every day that her daughter could ruin all this if she just spoke out about the way she acted in private....
