I know, but my idea is not really about Samus or any character, rather for the very unique landscapes of the games. Metroid Prime is surely fascinating me for the gameplay, but one of the most interesting elements of the game, which makes me wanna play it regularly again, are the incredible landscapes with their unddescribable atmosphere..... When looking at such images, I think you could do them well =D
Will try, but can't promise. Traditional mediums such as watercolors are a bitch when it comes to ethereal!
Still, sparkles can be a good way to render hologram as well =P
.... Not to mention the hologram from Star Trek Next Generation and it simulation room which looks like real.

But, I see what you mean: long time ago when I played with watercolor, by mistake I watered down a colour too much. It did make it transparent but darkened whatever the previously painted stuff it covered.
But, I do like imperfect technology... and practically perfect people do scare me. I am going to shut up.
