Every now and then folk need to unwind, savor the moment, or just enjoy the silence. June had her work cut out for her in the LAPD, but she needed a vacation, if only for a day or two. And what relief it was that her parents were going out to the countryside to see what their extended family was up to, almost a hundred in number. The various burrows of her father's side and dens of her mother's side were all very neat and tidy abodes, warm and welcoming, June relaxed into the moments of small town life, something uncommon in the vast majority of the golden state. Despite the company of both families it still felt serene, and June certainly needed that, but a girl does need some time spent solo. Walking out into a golden field of tall grass and into the breeze of the early afternoon, the cloud coverage kept things shady and cool, the blue skies piercing through the gaps of the white fluff. June brushed her ashen hair off her shoulder and imagined spying the urban sprawl of a city of many names and great danger. "Wish I could stay here a bit longer than I asked for, but the world isn't gonna save itself..."
