Some of these model have issues, potentially serious if not subjected to a swing test to assure stability in free flight. Craftsmanship being another issue. Airframe tube, spiral mold seams, and wood grain for the whole world to see. Perhaps someone forgot to provide sealer, primer, and paint this week.
Any model worth building, flying, and later display is worthy of a proper finish. It's outlined in the official course guide.
