Many years before their friendship turned to romance Matt and Isabella had been an inseparable pair of outcasts. Isabella had braces and Matt was a runt, but they didn't see these as faults, just the way that they were. One summer day Isabella had asked Matt out to the fields a short bike ride away from their homes. Matt hitched up his wagon to Isabella's tricycle and their were off, two young friends in the sun and the cool breeze ruffling their fur. The hues of all the flowers on the hills and in the fields was a sight to behold, stretching as far as the eye could see. Isabella had brought a big checkered blanket, some food, and a beach umbrella, a picnic was in order. They set up their little spot on the crest of a hill, looking out away from their home area and off into the fields that stretched to the mountains, for once a distant view not marred by infrastructure and buildings. They munched away at their lunch, laughed at new jokes, and sitting crosslegged, gazing at passing cars and insects buzzing amongst the flora. Matt stood up, an idea popping into his head, thinking to the flowers that blew in the wind and how Isabella was always fascinated by plant life. So he asked her to sit awhile while he went out to gather some for her. He spent a few minutes inspecting the petals and hues of them before taking enough to make a bundle back to Isabella. She saw the large bouquet of petals and stems and came rushing over to see. Not long after arrival did several butterflies start making little passes at the plants and fluttering in the breeze. One little winged flower landed upon Isabella's ear, as Matt joyously laughed, stating that it thinks Isabella must be a pretty flower too. The pair went home, the sunset was spent with smiles and happy memories, their youth spent beside each other, friends now, and perhaps more when their time came.
