Gotta say, I love it when a writer sends me scurrying for a dictionary with a word I've never come across before. In this case it was 'Alizarin' - thank you for adding to my vocabulary!
There is some really good, natural-sounding dialogue in this chapter, particularly in that opening scene between Sammy and Clara. You certainly have the knack of mixing dialogue, description and inner monologue to give the story a proper flow. Great setup here for this new arc, and now I'm on to the next chapter!

What I usually do is watch mixed martial art matches for inspiration. Sometimes I'll ask my brown-belt sister to help me figure out counter moves. Even watching Super Sentai/Power Rangers, even if the martial arts are more on the showy side, can get you pumped up to write a fight. It's all about the kinetic energy of the scene.
