This hefty fellow is a Devilkin divine pact Warlock, which means he has taken on an angel or god as a Patron instead of a Fiend, Fey or Old One.

This is Sv'ezveerdaii ( a name even his friends have trouble with )
His story is that he was found by an Adventuring Priest on the wastelands of Avernus ( first circle of hell ) as a child and taken to the Material plane and left to be raised in a cathedral . He grew to be a religious and Devout person but always had hints of infernal or esoteric behavior.
Instead of praying to his chosen ( in this case a goddess of magic and spellcraft ) Deity he formed a divine pact to act out her will.
He mostly Translates Goodly deity's holy texts into Infernal and tries to convert those the church would usually ignore.

His crystal rod is unbreakable and changes length from being a rod or club to be a staff.

His particular Patron is a angel in service to a goddess of magic. His chest tattoo is his pact mark which should be blue but has turned blue under his red skin.
