~ Behind Randall's Bungalow, New Kiev.... ~
The breeze, while only minutely chilled (thanks to the glacier-fed lake just beyond the boundary-line), did much to stave off the seasonable warmth of the late-July day.
A small transistor radio fed some smooth Jazz into the air, sitting on a low table nearby that held a pitcher of cool, fruit-laden drink. Two tall glasses, half-full with ice melting into their contents bore mute testimony to the libations' proven means to cut the summer-time heat.
"Mmmm . . . this is good," Cheska said, stretching her toes against the soft hemp-cords that made up the hammock underneath her.
Beside her, the tall form of the home's owner shifted slightly with the soft rumble of a chuckle filling the air. "Mouse is content, hm?".
The purple-haired mouse peered up at Randall, smiling as she yawned, before replying. "Yush. Is Kitteh happy too?".
Randall smiled, curling his far arm under his head to support it. "When you're here, I am," he rumbled.
"That is the point of this?" Cheska asked, gesturing languidly at the surrounding, peaceful backyard. "Is quiet, for the most part. Amanda is out having fun with some of the girls from the SOKOL--.".
"A girls-day out, she said," Randall pointed out to her. "She's been so underfoot lately, while the club does some renovations!"
"Well, yes . . . Pavel's put it off for so long, everyone believed he'd never get around to it!", Cheska said. She gave the Sun Leopard an arched look. "Including building a certain flop-cat a new kitchen in the bargain, hm?".
With a grin, Randall replied, "Well, I'm not complaining about that! Been meaning to get that space fixed up . . . especially since customers are coming around for the food as much as they are for . . . the entertainment. OOF!".
Pulling her hand back from where she'd gently poked his tummy, Cheska said, "Now, now. The Girls are the main pull for Pavel's pockets, Pooshook. Though I'm certain you do not mind this, hm?" She gave him a wink. "I know I do not mind.".
Randall huffed a soft laugh, before pulling Cheska closer. "No, you and I don't mind . . . especially that one of his top-draws is just as much accessible to us both." He rocked his head back and forth, a rueful expression on his muzzle. "Can't believe how we lucked out on both of us earning her affections, honestly.".
This made Cheska snort fondly. "The Rabbit loves whom she loves, Pooshook. We'd be foolish to let it go to waste, eh?".
"True . . . I mean, look what it brought out, in the bargain," Randall said, smiling down at her; eyelids heavy with love as he peered at her. "Win-and-win for all concerned, I'd say.".
"Mmm, agreed," Cheska replied. Draping one arm over his fuzzy chest, She nuzzled closer and sighed deeply. "She does not deserve us, you know.".
Dipping his head to place a gentle kiss on Cheska's forehead, Randall replied, "I know I don't deserve either of you. Yet, I can't say I don't love having the two of you in my life. I'd never want it any other way, Myska.".
With a smile that was equal parts loving and drowsy at the same time, Cheska murmured, "As do I, Randall.".
There wasn't much more either one could say: holding each other close, while the breeze rocked the hammock gently in the summer sun . . . .

Jae came through again, with this piece I decided to get as a celebration of Summer, as well as a "Welcome Home & Get Better" gift for my dear
Cheska
The poor dear had to be hospitalized last month, with complications of her kidneys that also developed into a nasty bout of pneumonia. Fortunately, she's recovered and is home safe. It's just taking her a while to recover to better health. With proper rest and much love, I'm hoping she will make a complete recovery.
Love you much, Cheska. I hope you realize just how much you mean to me, and let's get you back into the pink of health soon! <3
