I've been watching the old Sonic SATAM cartoon again, and it's such a good show. It was quite dark for a kids show, in terms of story and color palette. And I had to draw Sally because she was a good character and really cute. She and Sonic had such a good relationship with Sonic being a hothead and Sally was more levelheaded. And their banter was always entertaining.
As for the little butterfly things...I remember there were some really unusual creatures in the story, and I thought it would be cute to have her with some more magical critters. After I finished the drawing I came across the creature I thought I was drawing. Turns out it was a parrot like creature with dragonfly wings.
I wanted to make her look more like her original version from the show, but with a bit of my own flair mixed in.
