The gentle rustling of the leaves as the morning breeze played with the fronds was enough to wake Kenith from his pleasurable slumber, while the first sunbeams chased away the night's gloom. With a yawn, he opened his eyes and checked on his friend. They slept cuddled tight together, spooned to one another as they shared warmth, love. The blue dragon cared a lot about his smaller buddy, as he did with anyone he crossed paths with in his life, but he knew Alistor was particularly in need of being comforted now, and so he just couldn't leave him alone when the little one most needed somebody to help him, someone to talk to and express his feelings, someone who could keep him safe from falling into that infamous dark pit once again.

Alistor had awakened before he did and was now laying his snout on Kenith's shoulder, a paw gently holding his side as the blue dragon could hear a soft purring coming from his friend's chest. Kenith could tell how grateful Alistor was, and how happy he was to be with him, but there was more his eyes tried to tell him that Kenith wasn't quite able to perceive. They looked at each other for a few moments, their breath the only thing that could be heard now as they both wanted to speak but didn't know what to say. That was, until the red drake finally mustered the courage to let out a few words...

"I-I'm sorry Ken... I'm so sor-" He was quickly interrupted by the blue's muzzle leaning close to give him a gentle smooch on the nose, followed by a loving nuzzle along his jawline. He stuttered, thinking he didn't deserve that, thinking he wasn't worth someone's care, but such a wonderful and caring dragon as he is isn't meant to suffer, nor to ever be left alone.

"Don't say that Ali, you have no reason to be sorry at all my dear friend. You know I'm always happy to give my best to help the ones I care for the most. You're an amazing dragon, truly one many would love to be able to call you friend, a pure gem in a darkened world. Everything's gonna be alright ok? I'm gonna be with you as long as you need me to, and fight your demons alongside you, for a kind soul like yours cannot be defeated." Saying that, Kenith rested his snout on top of Ali's, his tail coiling with the red drake's one as he kept him close. He would never let go.

Tears formed in Alistor's eyes, soon rolling down on his cheeks and onto Kenith's scales. He felt weak, barely finding the strength to whisper out his next words. "I-I... I don't wanna let people down... I don't wanna fail anyone... I don't wanna burden people with my sorrow..." He sighed, another tear falling down before he looked up at Kenith's golden eyes "Forgive me Kenith, I shouldn't bother you anymore..."

"Shush Ali, stop that. You know that ain't true and nothing is gonna stop me, nor the others, from always cheering you up and listening to you when you feel down. You're amazing, remember that, and we all love you for what you are, little strawberry." Kenith licked off his friend's tears from his muzzle, then proceeded to assault him with soft licks all over his head and cheeks, grooming him as they just kept laying there together. No more words were needed, no more tears, there was only peace, and for a moment everything was fine.

Daaaaaaamn was that a blast to write! I'll be honest, I struggled to capture someone else's emotions and translating them into text, even though this isn't even remotely as good nor long enough to give this scene justice.
When I saw  JArts opening this YCH I just HAD to hop in. Everyone who's been chatting with me enough knows how much of a loving person I am and how much I care for those who get closer to me, and this piece seemed perfect to express just that! Not to talk about the beautiful background which even though isn't the most detailed just makes for the perfect ambiance! Not much else to say besides how happy I am with the final result once again, and this was done pretty fast too :P
