The first and only time I ever GM'd a tabletop game was a Call of Cthulhu 7th edition game that lasted all of three hours. By the time I had them at the Arkham library they were already off-kilter thanks to a short trip to Innsmouth. Once at the library I threw the works at them-hidden doors, a secret library room commissioned by a long-dead cult leader and a doorway to a different dimension that housed an infinite library full of all the most terrible and maddening of texts. Both my players ended up losing their characters within twenty minutes of setting foot in the place. One shot themselves the other disappeared into a book never to be seen again.
All things considered I think it fit the setting perfectly but none of us understood how people continued playing the same characters for long given how terrifying Lovecraft's settings are. Looking back I think they should have gone home and tried fooling around with each others artifacts instead.
