So those that know me know that I very much enjoy playing and RPing in the world of Guild Wars 2. And a character I intially made as a joke but I've come to use a lot if is the Silly Inquest Agent Tepkk. Pictured above. But instead of sinister science or risky research hes a Public Relations Agent. Made after a conversation where the end result was 'man the Inquest must have crappy PR' and then Tepkk was born. To see if they really did.
For those of you who don't know the Inquest is an Asura group that have very few ethics or morals when it comes to science and improvement of their race. They very much believe that the ends justify the means when it comes to progress. And Tepkk is a ground floor worker for them. Will be happy to answer questions about Tepkk, the Inquest, or even small responses as Tepkk in the comments to other residents of Tyria! This will hopefully be a semi ongoing series as writing as Tepkk and his family has been a good bi daily exercise.
For those knowledgeable about the Inquest and are wondering why his uniform has Blue I tried to think of a good visual way for the Inquest and the public to see a PR agent from a distance. And Blue is a nice calming color! To help make sure you know that everything is alright!

Ok yes, voice to text is working good. Hopefully it wont pick up the clanging of pans...test. Ok good. Just voice. Good. I can then make dinner without worrying about this being interrupted. Oh its started right uhh...Ahem.
This is Public Relations agent Tepkk, ID INQ-PR-RSum-0138, recording this for mainly personal reasons as this will only be looked at if the Inquest needs to investigate me for something. Hopefully that won't happen again. Then again that was more of a personal rather than Krewe thing but umm...said too much. Can you delete? Delete previous two sentences?
Well then.
This is also to help certain interested parties who umm...may be interested in me? As they requested knowing more about what the Inquest do during training for people like me. I will not give secrets in this but will cover the basics. Basics that I will gladly share in public if asked or hand over a pamphlet with it in.
Normally to become a Public Relations, I will explain the duties of this later, you have to have been in the Inquest for two months at least. As 'we' want to make sure that you are loyal to the cause and have been able to see that you are good at discussing with your fellow krewe mates. You would then be offered the additional training to become PR. I was able to skip this as my parents hold high positions in the Relations section of the Krewe and its been a tradition with us to always work PR. Kizz makes us proud for her position despite the recent rescue. She didn't see any worse for the event at least.
But Public Relations. We do a bit more than stand around and ask questions or put up posters. We are also responsible for inter work relations in the Inquest. If there is some disagreement we are called in to mediate the situation and work out who is right and how restitution will be handled if needed. Most of the time we don't have the power to arrest or punish a party but it can be granted to us by the Manager or Director overseeing the specific Krewe if needed. We don't actually get called on as much as you might suspect as a lot of Managers don't like the added...eugh 'hassle' of getting PR involved. They tend to try and deal with it themselves. But if we see a situation especially in public we are obligated to step in and deal with it.
As you may have seen PR can be spotted by the blue in our normal black, red, white uniform. And while its not often on anything besides our reports or documents we have an Insignia as well. The normal Inquest diamond arrangement but with the middle white diamond blue. It looks nice on a poster I was given one for three years in PR.
But back to duties. Yes we sometimes go around hanging posters or answering complaints that the public may have about us but we also sometimes host lectures. And we are the ones that set up public events and socials that the Inquest may wish to hold. Say for example there is a dinner planned for certain wealthy investors, its our job to source a location and supplies for it. Then there's the interior relations we work on but mainly we are doing things on the fringes of the Inquest. This tends to make a lot of the more internal departments like Research or Weaponization look down on us. But we umm...try not to let it get us down. Yeah. Try.
We are also tasked because we are so often in the public eye in displaying a good Image for the Inquest. As such more than other departments we are supposed to look presentable and proper and carry ourselves in a professional manner. Thats a good part of the training for PR is how to move and act like we know what were doing. And hey most times we do. But also because we are in the public looking good part of the training is medical. A lot of people are surprised but we go beyond basic first aid as we need to know how to treat burns, lacerations, concussions, and anything else that may happen in a mid to low tier lab. Of course its to make sure we as Asura are safe and alive but also if you happen to get your life saved by an Inquest it will make you think better of them. Engineering is also taught but not as much as medical. We know the basics of golemancy to help try and diagnose or shut down malfunctioning golems but actually building one not really. There are some in PR that can no question but thats more so learned before they joined or on their own time.
In more physical skills since we sometimes have the authority to arrest and in Rata Sum especially we are trained in basic police work. How to attempt to diffuse a situation and what to do if it doesn't work. Thankfully rareOH my soup is done lovely.

What was my last thing? Ah yes thankfully rare as a lot of Asura tend to follow the rules but inside the Inquest its...of course the same. We all follow the rules. But if someone doesn't we need to know the appropriate way to pacify them and restrain them. Its only basic stuff really and without much practice its worrying sometimes. That's why I'm trying to get some additional training in it.
Otherwise that's mainly the training we get. We aren't soldiers so we aren't trained for that. Or Golem pilots, or scientists ourselves. We are trained to be one of the most Inquest most commonly seen. To help the public understand and see us as more than sneaky research thieves. That we have the future of Asura at heart.
Well....some people don't see us as that at least. Not enough really but...changing minds starts with one right?
Next time I'll probably talk about some work stories, end recording.

Heeeey Kikk!
I'm glad you like Tepkk! It tends to be the case it seems that the jokey or quickly made characters that tend to become some of your favorite. Tep as certainly become my favorite since then. I always wanted to make an Inquest as I tend to like the 'bad guys' more but wanted to do something different from Evil Scientist or some kidnapper, And several of my Asura guilds think so as well so hooray for that. They also say he looks cute and does a good job being an innocent face to the Inquest :D . Hope you like the other entries.
Err...well thank you Sir! We take our job very seriously here at PR! There are always questions and concerns that the public has about our operations and I am more than happy to help explain our public activities and the like. Just understand that there are some things I cannot share. But as soon as allowed I would be happy too! And yes...Rata Primus is still a fresh memory and wound for many. A true sad time in the Inquests History. I only hope those that were able to escape recover well.
