Street Legal! <3
After more than a year and more travails than I care to mention, the Silver Star is finally tagged, insured and can occasionally be seen ambling the highways and byways of Northwest Arkansas!
Latest fix: The instrument lights now work, so I can drive at night and know how fast I'm going.
To be done: Lots. But, at least, if Christine eats a valve or something, I have a way to get to work...

actually have a similar car here in PA. dad found it recently in a Barn where it "supposedly" spent the last 15 years. 560 SL, 1976. some weird mods to it. painted it white over the blue. and for some reason, swapped the side that the antenna was on. I only said supposedly because it appeared to have a late 90s-early 00s stereo in it, with live wires going to the rear speakers. other than that and some missing trim though, was in pretty good shape. took us forever to get the hard top off, and I was worried it would have a rotten and moldy softtop. absolutely. f-ing. pristine.
sorry I rambled, cool you've got that on the road!

Awesomesauce! She looks amazing! I'm glad to hear you now got her so far that you can cruise her around all legal-like and perhaps even use her to get to work sometimes!
*giggles*
And you need a dashboard light to see how fast you're going at night? Feh... I always calculate that by how many lighted buildings swoosh by me per second =~.^=

Ah! Yes, that poses a problem, indeed... because where would you then plug in that light? Mmm, I still have a handy little light, it's a small cup on a clamp with a bulb in it and a red and a black wire on it with clamps on the end which you can clip onto the terminals of the battery... but that might not be very handy while driving, either. I mean, an opened hood does tend to take away the visibility of the road... =~.^=
Cool man! I'd halfway like to get one of those old Mercedes' and work on it. It's good that you got the instrument cluster lights working. I had an older truck for years that the instrument lights didn't work on. Usually, I didn't work on it, but when I started taking long trips at night in it, I would actually take a glow stick, crack it, cover it halfway with duct tape, and then tape it to the top of the cluster. It was so redneck, but it worked. A friend finally fixed it for me :P
