Way before doing those ref pics commssioned by this german cat thing https://www.deviantart.com/assaultcat
I decided to FIRST do the weapons that she will carry, and accoding to what Assaulcat told me, and what she wanted, i came out with this lovely selection of toys for Tayla, first, Tayla is a specialist commando, which it means that she can fit in any role on the battlefield, although she preffers more a stealthy approch, but she got the tools to handle difficult situations.
"The Oh Shit Bottom": Is actually a colt magnum python .357 which it was modifyed in order to shoot both powder based bullets and also energy based ammo, a special recoil was added in order to attach a second canon for the energy shots, we are talking about space scients shit here, people rather consider powder guns as "outdated" since they can't work at the vacum of space, or places with low oxigen, not to mention that ammo allways become an issue to carry, however... the energy based weapons has the peculiar weakness that they can be neutralized with EMP pulses, so this weapon can covert both things, one of the resons of why its called like that xD
"All Porpuse Boi": Like the Oh Shit Bottom, this baby can shoot both energy and powder ammo, althought, the powder ammo is more used for sniping, having a 7.92 caliber and a bolt action mechanism, making this gun deadly at long range, for more close range we have the energy mechanism, working like an assault riffle with a decent fire rate, this thing is one of its kind, and only god knows how many credits Tayla haved to spend in order to build this thing.
"Pew Pew Gal": Unlike the other two guns, this thing is full every based, and is actually manufactured in several places around the galaxy so is not unique, this thing has packs a punch, its like having size pocket granade luncher, able to shoot diferent types of energy ammo, went things gets REALLY ugly, Tayla use this thing with the "Oh Shit Bottom" in an akimbo fashion, it can pull you out of any bad situation to be honest.
"Fast and Furious": Probabbly the most common things you will find here, these are Glock 29's modifyed in order to have several attachments, mostly used for stealth porpuses or as a backup thing if she runs out of ammo, very reliable things and very deadly in the correct hands.
I know that this doesnt like a very fancy weapon showcase, but it works for show how are the weapons that this kitten will use in future pics and such xD probabbly i made some grammar errors over there.... nahhh... i am too lazy to fix those -w-;

Actually, guns fire fine in full hard vacuum. The propellant used in guns, even primitive stuff like black powder and early cordite, nitrocelluose (smokeless powder), etc., all is self-oxygenating. The bullet will come out exactly as intended. The biggest issue is when in a microgravity environment, where the recoil of the weapon will risk the firer being thrust from where they are (you ARE basically firing a rocket thrust with something stuck in the barrel for a moment).
Energy wepons (specifically directed energy weapons) such as a particle beam or a laser have range-based collimation issue (also called beam spread), and have differing uses. A laser needs time on target to burn through a given material, though you can tune some forms of laser to operate on the resonance frequency of materials, drastically increasing the amount of absorbed energy. Particle beams basically cause radiation burns, can burn holes through things, and cause damage to electronics (and your genetics). Some might also cause an imparted charge (no real effect here until you discharge it into a conductive, grounded object, then you get a jolt). The infamous science fiction plasma weapon has issues with WILDLY immense spread once it comes out of the generator/barrel. Think of that more like wielding a flamethrower. Not a napalm one, either, but an aerosol can with a nice wide nozzle and you're lighting it off with a lighter. THAT kind of short-range (but high damage) flamethrower.
All energy weapons generate waste heat. Lots of it. Nonetheless, they have a LOT of uses. Note: in atmosphere, a DEW is NOT silent, instead making a distinct crack and a highly visible, easily-traceable, impossible to suppress line from target to shooter. Particle beams, unless travelling down a laser's path, will also meander like a lightning bolt. Lasers and particle beams have to also worry about atmospheric conditions, while a bullet drastically less so.
Lastly in this little thing comes concepts like electrothermal ammunition, where you use an electrical charge to turn a working fluid like liquid ammonia into plasma REALLY fast and use the resulting (highly controllable) impulse to push the bullet down the barrel. Has advantages of extreme consistency. The plasmation can be triggered through a capacitor system in the gun, or, better still, through an explosively-initiated pulse generator.
All the technical discussion aside, I like the designs from a visual and ergonomic standpoint, and really think they'd be quite comfortable to fire. Excellent ergonomics!

Wow! ehhhh... is the first time that someone actually manage to put this amount of info in a comment for me to be honest xD hmmmmm.... i didnt knowed all that stuff about the powder based guns that can be fired in the vacuun, or the fact about the effects of the energy weapons on the target or the uses that these ones has, i will take notes about twhat you have said and use it as a future reference ^^
And thanks xD i have never touched a gun in my whole life to be honest all i know is for the videogames that i have played since i haved 5 years old, and a bunch of videos about how guns operates, fire mechanisms and other technical stuff --3--

I've only fired a few guns, but it's an eye-opening experience. The guns in vacuum thing is a common misconception. Con enough to the point that it actually got tested on an episode of Mythbusters. ^_^
Also, about particle beams in an atmosphere, I feel I could have been clearer. A particle beam in an atmosphere follows the path of least resistance, just like a lightning bolt. It's because of this that lightning forks and branches like it does. The path is unpredictable, and may lead to places other than the target, spending a lot the beam's energy getting there. Atmospheric-fired particle beam weapons would get around this by firing, for a brief few microseconds, a VERY powerful laser pulse. This pulse punches a vacuum through the air, displacing SO much of it for a super-short time that the path of least resistance becomes the laser's line. The Directed Energy Weapon Line (the previously mentioned bright flash) happens because the laser or particle beam has so much energy (weapons-grade ones need this) that the air molecules absorb some and pick up a powerful charge. If you've read any science, you'll know that there are energy states to atoms. The passing of the beam shoves atoms in the air up to a higher energy state. When the beam is done firing, these atoms go back to their ground state, how they normally are, and the energy gets emitted as photons, or, in other words, light. At the same time, along the now empty beam path, which the beam turned for a brief moment into a vacuum, the air comes rushing back in very fast, so along the entire beam past you get this loud CRACK, like a miniature lightning bolt. And THAT, my friend, is a DEW line.
Note that this is all pretty much a "serious science!" view on it. Realistic and fairly accurate as far as we know currently. Don't let this get in the way of having fun or letting your imagination run wild. ^_^ If your energy weapons instead go "ZLORB!" when they fire, then goodness, yes they do! ^_^
