In Eastern Connecticut, same-old same-old. Last night there were school and bank closings for Wednesday because of the intense cold and 'wintry mix'.
So, I wake up to calm air, 28°F and a dusting on the ground -- instead of the 6"-1 yard they were threatening. Sheesh.

Yeah, by the time this mass of cold air came over New York City (and all the hot air in Washington DC) it had warmed up to -2°F.

Sorry for coming in late...
But the talk about the weather reminded me of my time in Fairbanks, AK... when I was stationed at Eielson AFB. It was -70F in areas around Fairbanks... talk about true cold weather. This was in late January of 1989.
I'm in the Houston area now, it isn't anywhere close to those temperatures you're experiencing now.
