Pokemon Hybrid - Umbreon and Metang
Adomm's been into creating hybrids nowadays. Taking her templates and sort of fusing them together to make her own sort of variation. At first, I see her creating simple things like horses with scales instead of fur, or birds with dragonfly wings. Nothing too crazy.
But I saw she was looking at her work and shaking her head. That there was something wrong with it, even though she was as perfect as usual in making it not only fit seamlessly, but also functionally. The scales would indeed protect the horse, and the wings still allowed for flight (perhaps even better than ever).
So I asked her what she was looking for, and she told me.
Creating a hybrid isn't as simple as swapping out body parts. It's about actually merging the two species together. Making them almost interchangeable from one another. You could take any part of them off, and you still wouldn't know which of the two it belongs to.
Why does it matter, I asked.
It matters, she replied, because it gives the work a flow. That it's not parts of the body, but the entire body that works. Exactly how you find them in nature; raw, unmodified, and wild.
I didn't get it, but nevertheless I nodded and thanked her for the advice, wishing her good luck in her endeavor.
So, in an attempt to understand what she meant, I went online and tried it myself. I went for a theme; Pokemon, due to their simplicity, and I randomly picked two of them and tried merging them together. See if I could discover this sort of flow that Adomm has been seeking out. Or, at least, a minor understanding of it.
...
... well, at the very least, I can say I'm actually quite proud of this one. I feel it's a fair example of hybridization. I'm not sure; what do you guys think?
