This started out as just a sketch I wanted to try while I was in London for Christmas. I was a little bit mopey about the fact that it was the first Christmas I'd ever spent away from my family, so I decided to try and draw a genuinely warm and happy scene in stark contrast to the grimdark edginess I normally draw. Despite being a battle-scarred and salty old mercenary, Sabre has a very strong chivalric gentleman side to him. He's a bit of an old-world romantic and a skilled ballroom dancer.

I couldn't think who his partner should be. Vice and Augur both seemed somewhat inappropriate because of his professional and paternal relationship with them. I was gonna draw some random leopard girl but didn't get around to finishing it. On NYE though,  McArthur drew me a sweet surprise sketch of Kyrophon in power armour and wanting to give something back, I decided that his character Jane would be a perfect fit for this- given some sorta time-travel, dimension hopping shenanigans to get the two of them into the same universe. :P

Never to be outdone, he then offered to lineart the sketch for me, so then I coloured it and here we are.
I'm rather pleased with how it came out in the end, although I think I'll modify the way I do lighting a bit in future.
