Name: David Wentworth
Superhero Name: Digger
DOB: 12 February 1990
POB: Murrin Bridge, New South Wales, Australia
Age: 28 (as of 2018)
Species: Marsupial Mole
Nationality: Australian
Height: 5' 6” / 168 cm
Weight: 210 pounds / 95.5 kg
Eye Color: Black – no iris
Hair Color: Blond
Physical Appearance: Shorter than the average fur and with a stocky muscular physique, Digger is a fairly typical specimen of his species. His fur is a white-gold color, accented by darker blond headfur. His eyes are rarely seen even in his civilian identity, hidden behind dark lenses which both correct for nearsightedness and protect sensitive vision; they are memorable when seen, however, since they are completely black. He is otherwise handsome enough, with a blunt muzzle instead of the pointed or elaborate one of most other moles.
Occupation: Civil engineer
Areas of Operation: Boston and New England, Maritime Canada.
Weapons/Items: Bureau communicator (hardened), zip-tie cuffs, IR visor.
Personal Transport: None. He uses public transportation as a civilian and generally depends on other Bureau members as Digger. He can move very quickly through rock when he needs to, however.
Powers: Earth Elemental: He can command rock and to some extent soil and artificial equivalents like concrete, reshaping it at a whim, moving through it, or launching boulders as an attack. He cannot directly affect metal but is quite capable of bashing it out of his way using rocks or undermining it.
Special senses: He is colorblind in most of the normal spectrum (he can't even pick up green, blue, and violet light) but sees very well in the infrared. (Although he is still nearsighted, his visor compensates for it.) He also has a vibration-sense that allows him to tell where objects are that are in contact with or embedded in the ground, both passive to detect moving objects and active to sonar-locate stationary objects or boundaries in the rocks. His hearing and sense of smell are significantly better than average as well.
Fighting Styles: He prefers to stand off and use his control of rock to bash enemies. When he has to fight hand-to-hand he's pretty much a brawler, although mole claws are quite formidable as weapons.
Strengths: Control of rock and soil, to tunnel for infiltration/exfiltration, to attack, and when conditions are right, to blind with a sandstorm effect. Hard to blind due to his unusual senses, and only psychic illusions are generally effective against him for the same reason – it's not so much that he's immune to it but that most illusions aren't geared for his senses.
Weaknesses: Slow for a super, nearsighted, and acrophobic. His powers are greatly weakened if he is not in contact with the ground, and he cannot control rocks in flight - he needs to have a connection through the ground. He has a strong constitution and stamina, but depends on his armor or rock barriers for protection.
Outfits: Costume: Miner's hardhat and protective gear, beefed up with composite Kevlar weave for extra protection. Civilian: business casual on the job, jeans and t-shirts otherwise.
Bio: He was born in a small town in the western part of New South Wales, and grew up as normally as any kid does, unaware that he was in any way unusual aside from his odd visual spectrum (he didn't realize that not even the other moles could sense things by vibration the way he did). When he was fifteen, he and his family were caught in one of the periodic bush-fires that Australia is subject to, and in desperation had started digging down to escape the firestorm. The bedrock was much too shallow to allow them to escape, until the rock simply flowed out of the way at Dave's urging. He actually was able to lower their entire house into the ground and dome it over during the worst of the conflagration.
After the fire had passed and he'd restored their home to its original position, his parents persuaded him to talk to the Bureau representatives in Sydney. Captain Cook was, typically, not very encouraging to a half-blind land-bound super and blew him off with 'come back when you're eighteen, if you must', but he was eventually able to bypass the surly sea-dog and prove that he could be a useful agent. Captain Australia recommended him to Morningstar after a second incident with Cook in 2008, and he settled into the Boston Bureau in early 2010 after finishing his education at MIT.
He chose his codename as a pun on his nationality, species, and powers.
