Awesome lion! I love his face. I love his body. I love his hair. I love the pose. I give the preliminary black & white drawing a ten out of ten. As for the colored version… I don’t know. I think you did a superb job coloring it, I’m just not sure I like the colors. That’s just personal taste though. It seems a little too dark. Maybe his body could have been just a shade lighter. I would also have liked to see his loincloth in white, or maybe a snow leopard pattern, or ermine. I don’t think brown and black look good together. Love the black hair/blue eyes though. I give it a nine out of ten! This is one of the best lion pics I’ve seen. I hope this was helpful.

The fur color should be a little darker even... he has a darkish gray pelt with a black mane and blue eyes... and colorful beads on the piercings. I may give it another shot later this week when I get new Prismacolor pencils. :)

There is a black phase in every species, and here are recorded sightings of black lions. They are as rare, however, as white tigers in the wild. Only one white tiger has ever been captured in the wild. His name was Mohan, and every single white tiger in captivity in the world today is descended from him. I wonder what a real black lion would look like?
