So after a chat with
Akaikosh I bought Zipper.
Zipper is now my little predator! Eep! >///<
UPDATE: 1/27/2026
I am returning Zipper to original creator for them to find Zipper a new forever home.
I may still draw Zipper in my setting/world but is non cannon to the new owner unless they say otherwise.
Poor bird has been collecting dust after I bought them, they deserve to spread their wings and find a new home.
The information below is for Zipper in Blu's universe only and is not cannon or accurate to the new owner.
Extra information:
> Zipper's clearly larger than your average hummingbird, but he's still very small. While fast in the air, he's awkward and clumsy on the ground.
>When gorged with prey that's when he's most vulnerable. As a result, he typically gets eaten by larger aerial predators like falcons, gryphons, and pterosaurs – as well as by the occasional giant frog from the ground (Those long sticky tongues!).
However he'll happily eat any of those animals if he manages to catch them first. He'll attempt to catch a Gryphon usually if he spots them while they're on the ground.
> The 'Nectar conversion' process is triggered manually, not automatically. Therefore he can, if he desires, use his crop for safer purposes like transport or just having fun.
However he can't control his stomach it digests regardless.
> He could easily drink nectar from flowers like his more average kin, but he prefers eating animals and turning them into nectar instead.
Besides the flavor being more appealing, they provide plenty more nutrients than typical nectars.
> He can also opt to skip turning prey into nectar and simply swallow them down and digest them directly in his stomach, but he very rarely does so as there's no practical reason to do this.
It's much quicker to convert swallowed prey into nectar then digest them in his stomach. The conversion process taking a few hours at most followed by a few more hours ion his gut to digest that.
>When stomaching unconverted prey it takes up to a week to digest the whole prey and digesting meat yields considerably less nourishment for him than the nectar would have.
Because of this he'd remain vulnerable to larger predators for a longer period of time while digesting a bulky meal. So he ops for nectar conversion most of the time.
> His favorite prey tends to be humans (And various anthros) but he'll gladly eat anything that's far larger than himslef and can be shrunken down.
Other favorites include theropod dinosaurs, dragons, large reptiles, and gryphons if he manages to catch them off-guard.
> Zipper isn't very “stretchy”, but he's easily able to eat prey just about his own size whole.
He still prefers to shrink them a bit to not be stuck grounded for weeks.
>He finds anything smaller than him unappealing and it really doesn't interest him to hunt it.
Zipper always goes after larger creatures for the thrill of churning up a large dangerous catch.
> After a certain point his magic dust fails to be effective and simply ceases to have any effect on extremely large prey.
Though this threshold is pretty far off and gives him a large and varied menu to pick from.
>Generally a creature doesn't notice when he attempts to shrink them down until it's too late.
If he fails an attempt it often means Zipper can escape without retaliation from his intended prey.
>His wing dust always works, but it ceases to be effective once his target gets too large for it.
He has only enough wing dust to shrink one to two large prey. It takes a few days to produce enough to do it again. (though he can save some inside a cloth pouch to dump on someone)
>Zipper likes to travel and prefers warm climates.
However he does stay in seasonal areas from time to time looking for new large and interesting prey.
>In colder regions Zipper's nest will contain small cloth bags (made from discarded regurgitated human/anthro clothes) filled with extra shrink dust he saved up so he can go "nectar poaching" in the fall.
With extra dust and a nice hidden nest he may go on a nectar conversion spree, putting excessive quantities of fresh nectar inside a glass Jar so he can sit back all winter and binge on his haul.
>Zipper is intelligent and clever, he even has his own business with a few well trusted salesmen. The first salesman he made arrangements with was a clever anthro fox that he was about to eat but the guy had made him a really good sales pitch.
He Trades batches of his nectar and extra shrink dust in exchange for special treats, hints for good prey locations, handcrafted bird houses, etc.
Best part is he never gets the short end of a deal otherwise he would shrink the dealer and make a meal out of em'.

Zipper won't change too much, it's the reason I bought him up is that I like what I read. I have only added more details and am trying to flesh him out more. I am open to suggestions if you have any.
I would think he hangs out with a rag tag team of various birds. Mainly a mix of humming birds, crows, ravens, song birds, seagulls, and birds that are a similar size to him. (him being way larger than a normal hummingbird treats his kin as little followers that he can share his nectar and protection)

Zipper looks for an opportunity every time his dust was ready for another sneak attack. He's is a bit greedy and loves making batches of sweet nectar but he is very cautious.
He would look for a human, anthro or large animal. Make sure there was no one watching when it comes to humans/anthros. Have a place to hide so he can work his meal into nectar without getting caught or eaten by something else.
Zipper enjoys prey that he can humiliate, someone that would be embarrassed or ashamed to be eaten by a hummingbird.
