Bowler was a humanoid Haniwa Phantom, which was the featured Monster of the week on Ep.3 of the Kotetsu Jeeg Anime, the episode marked the introduction of the Orochi Flying Fortress. He was was light hue green and black in color body, with a dark hue green face with pink eyes, and had a horn skull in the waist. He used a Manrikigusari style weapon of choice, with massive weights chained to each other.
While Mimashi (one of Himika's 3 Generals) set his plan in motion to capture Jeeg, Hiroshi helped his mother and sister to move with him at his house, following the events of Mayumi's kidnapping, putting all the furniture on a moving truck, among them an ominous looking Soccer Ball. As they leave, the Ball falls off, as Mimashi rises from the ground on board the Orochi the Flying Demon Fortress with Eight Dragon Heads. (How does no one in the town notices the giant mountain with five Skulls rising from the ground is beyond me?). Noticing the ball had dropped off, Mimashi had already though of a contingency plan...
The Contingency plan been a school boy who befriends the talking Ball with an unearthly raspy voice. The kid, not good at sports, makes a few loops in basketball and is accepted by the other children. (Yep, it has come to this, folks: Cheap, lazy writing of the worst kind - Hell, its not even shown how the damn Sphere got into Shiba's old home in the first place-_-)
Later, the ball conveniences the kid to take it to Hiroshi's home. The machinations of Mimashi don't go unnoticed, as his communications are detected as brain waves by the Prof. Shiba, who notice these frequencies are on the move towards Hiroshi's house. Prof. Dairi sends Michi to investigate – she does and sees the child with the Soccer ball in hand, deducing it to be the origin of the signal. She lands and talks to the child but he runs off. Michi grabs him by the leg and he stumbles, and the balls falls over a pound. The Ball immediately transforms into its real form, the Haniwa Phantom Bowler and goes after Michi and the Child, who board the Big Shooter and tries to confront the creature, but is then captured by the Orochi fortress, Mimashi then orders Bowler to find Jeeg and kill him. Prof. Shiba warns Hiroshi of the incoming danger, as Don and Pancho follow. Michi is then able to escape from Orochi and regroup with Hiroshi, who is now in its Jeeg Head form fighting the beast on a power plant. Michi fires the components and Jeeg is form – Shiba wars Hiroshi of the danger of Electricity as Jeeg is by design Magnetic. Jeeg proceed to fight with caution, but is bashed by the monster and fall into electric cables.
Don and Pancho show up, and comment on the fact Hiroshi might lose – Pancho congrats him cause that means he'll be No.1 from now own, but Don bashes him, saying that losing he would be lonely, if he loses his rival. (Thanks for the insight Don, you are a true dick).
Bowler strangles Jeeg and keeps bashing him and throws him over generators, seemingly been aware of his weakness, Jeeg crawls out of the Power plant, and shoots Bowler Weapons off with Spinstorm then knocks him with Dynamite kick – Jeeg uses Magnetic Power on the monster and dispatches Bowler with Jeeg Breaker. Mimashi orders retreat, and the Episode ends teaching him a lesson in effort and accomplishment (YES: IT ESSENTIALLY ENDS IN A FUCKING PSA!!!)
