SuperHuman Warrior Beast Marvalus was first featured in the original Manga and later on Episode 20 of the Great Mazinger Anime along with Gravalus. He had a blueish purple color scheme with a vaguely humanoid appearance. He has a mostly flat body with spiked shoulders and green breast like pieces, large bat like wings with axe bladed tips, atop his head was a tiny single horn. Marvalus had the ability of flight at mach 5, his axe bladed wings made him a threat when engaging in close combat. His true face is located on his waist with a light colored mane, a blue colored face with a light purple triangle, and yellow eyes.
In the episode, the Borot Gang discuss the means to come up with their own Radar system when a group of Scientists appear and graciously built one for them – unbeknownst to them are Mikene Agents in disguise, who built a jamming device that interferes with the radar of the Science Fortress, this in preparation for an assault using Gravalus.
As everything went according to plan, Marvalus was launched halfway into the episode to assist Gravalus om the raid of the Science Fortress, but arrived just after Great Mazinger destroyed Gravalus, smashing in Great at top speed, causing it to fall into the ocean. As the Fortress staff is captured and about to be killed in an explosion on the Photon Reactor, Tetsuya's attempts to escape are stopped by Marvalus, who hits him every time Great attempts to come out. As the Soldiers escape, Borot arrives and smacks through them – Boss orders Nuke and Mucha to check on the Scientists while he help Great, who are later found and release them, they succeed and get rid of the Bombs on time. Meanwhile, Borot arrives on the cliff and he is hit by Marvalus and falls into the Ocean, sinking next to Great. To combat the problem, Tetsuya suggest Boss to use the Electrode Magnetic Waves of the Phony radar, which could disturbed the Beast. Borot escapes and heads back to his shack where he recharges the Phony Radar to full strength, the electrode magnetic waves hit Marvalus causing it to slow down to a crawl, Great escapes, avoids the Beast, and uses the Great Sword to cut his left wing off and falling into the ocean, presumably destroying it.
Marvalus is one of the recurring Warrior Beasts of the franchise, having appeared in the Shin Mazinger Zero vs the Great General of Darkness Manga and the Mazinkaiser/Great General OVA. The design in the Shin Manga and Mazinkaiser OVA resemble close to the original Manga, and differ drastically from the one seen in the original anime, where the head was a long sharp cone shape helmet, and was skinnier with sharper edges in comparison to his anime counterpart.
