Mazinger Z series - Ghost Mechanical Beast Kentol Γ7
Kentol Γ7 (Gamma7) was a centaur Ghost beast, featured on episode 73 of the original Mazinger Z anime. Largely purple in color, with a light blue mouth plate, neck and fore legs, lower legs are black with gray hooves, a yellow abdomen, and his arms were purple and red. He was capable of flight, his right hand held a spear while the left one had a shield for a hand, this contain a spike in the center. The three horns on his head were capable to fire an energy beam which would disrupt machines.
As Japan deals with a massive Oil Crisis, the Borot gang are left in a conundrum, as Boss Borot has become inoperative without it, but are rejected where ever they go, including by the Photon Power Lab, and this matter doesn't escape Dr. Hell, as the Scrander hasn't been completed – he orders Count Brocken to ask for Gorgon's assistance for the next attack. At his HQ, Gorgon, after teasing Brocken, agrees to the request and introduces Kentol Γ7 and in a show of force fires an electrode magnetic storm onto the Gool, which disrupts the electronics, impress, Brocken takes the new Beast to Japan, but begrudgingly does so after agreeing to make Gorgon the Commander for the mission.
Meanwhile the same time, Nuke and Mucha come up with the brilliant idea to steal half of the Photon power Fuel from Z's Jet Pilder in time for Kentol to be launch and getting detected by the lab, Nuke and Mucha dragged Boss and tell him what they have done – Boss Borot comes online and goes into action, much to Koji's surprise, and encounters the new Mechanical Beast in the field and, feeling confident, challenges it. Borot throws a Pine tree like a lance, but the beats returns it back at him, then uses his Disruption ray, making Borot go hay wire. Koji arrives on time knocking the beast out with the Rocket Punch – after avoiding some of Z's attacks, Kentol uses the Ray on him, causing his weaponry to malfunction, Kentol the knock Z down and tries to stab it with its lance, but Borot intervenes by throwing a rock and distracting it, allowing Mazinger to take the upper hand, Kentol then retreats back to the Gool and Koji learns the truth from Boss about the fuel, learning the Pilder is now fully depleted. Unable to take Mazinger along, he leaves on the Pilder to refuel leaving Z on the care of Boss and Borot, unfortunately, Brocken and Gorgon learn this and plan to steal it with the Gool – Boss Borot tries to stop it, but fails and fall from the air, leaving to the kidnapping of Mazinger Z. Boss then tells Koji and a search is made for the Gool with the labs radar.
On the Gool, Mazinger lies strap to a giant cross (Seriously, the crucifix can be over used a lot in the series, even the robots don't escape it, JESUS!). Gorgon orders Kentol to destroy Z with its lance, but the Super Alloy proves to strong for it. Gorgon then decides to destroy Z by throwing it with the Gool onto the Power Lab, Brocken protest, and Gorgon decides to just throw Z – Gool is detected as it flies to the lab, Koji has a brief Dog Fight, but the Pilder's weaponry proves ineffective, and Mazinger is then drop. Koji flies after it and docks with it and the new Scrander is called in and docks with Z on time, now Kentol enters into action and the two Giant Robots have an aerial fight, with Koji largely avoiding the disruption rays. He flies under and behind Kentol, and distracts it with Rocket punches, then fires Southern Cross Knife, cutting the horns off. Koji finally dispatches the Beast with the Breast of Fire.
An angered Gorgon blames Brocken for the defeat, as it would had been better to go with the original plan of destroying Z and the lab along with the Gool and orders the retreat.
In the original manga, a centaur Ghost Mechanical Beast much like Kentol is featured as the first Ghost to see action, with the major difference it has two mounted torsos rather than one on both ends of the horse body - the second torso was feminine in design and large spikes in her fore arms, it name was Kentolnol (forgot the correct pronunciation) but retain the Gamma7 designation at the end of its name. Kentol Γ7 appeared on Mazinger Angels, fighting along side Serpent I6 and Apollo A1.
