I'm was about to trick or treat. I was dressed in my Chase uniform as usual. Vanished out of my house during my sleep. Then I ended up in a strange house. It turned out that I'm not the only one there... also I happen to be the final person in a rich man's Stauffs game. I saw specters of the last people who where there. I got so scared I well.. I wet myself. Couldn't contain it. After a change I solved puzzles and uncoveted more horrors than a toddlerman such as myself.

Actually realtime-rendered 3D games could exist. Spectre, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and without sprites: Quake, Terminal Velocity, Stellar 7, Alone in the Dark, flight simulators.
The limiting factor was the size of the volume you could move data on. Back then, it was a big deal to have 60-80MB of hard drive space. So, with the optical drive, you had 740MB of capacity you didn’t need to load onto the hard drive. Just install the executable and it would just use D: for the data source.
The optical disc also provided a way to provide proof of purchase, so some game companies used it as the “unlock.” It works that way with a lot of game consoles, too. You can play your game on anyone’s console as long as you have a disc that proves you paid for the license.
