West Africa (later the West Indies too) and the Native American tribe of the Lakotas have in common a spider-man spirit trickster but benevolent having given wisdom and knowledge to Man. In West Africa, they have Anansi the Trickster who taught men agriculture. He also created the Sun, the stars, and the Moon. Lakotas have Iktomi, who is seen more as a comical character. I disgress to say almost all Native American peoples have in common the Spider Woman, who created the cosmos with her web a bit like Anansi. I truely think they belong to the same species ! I drew a Nigerian spider-man as I heard about Anansi first.
