Toastlog 015: Furries in a Closet (1/3)
In the Toastlogs I take a broader look onto my comic "Furry Fight Chronicles", Creativity in general, or answer your questions. This time I felt like talking about Furry and it´s perception.

I...can sort of empathize with this. Expecially the shift form " I relly love this pic" to " lemme dissect this pic and learn what i can from it"
As for being furry..Whatever you are and whatever you like...just be. Sound corny and banal I know. Originality is not my strenght

Aaaaand as always the fanbase always ruins the things for people
Guys. How about you just live your hobbies and ignore what shitty things other people do?
You know you can choose certain people over others via their personal characteristics, right?
You know that a thing isn't defined by how toxic its fanbase is, right?
If you don't like infantile people, how about you simply choose your relationships/friendships only for people who aren't? Doesn't have to be furry specifically, that applies to pretty much everything.
This is just generalistic and actually mentally dangerous in a sense, because wherever you will look (in the public hobby scene) there will always be people who are perverts, or immature (not to mention the whole "there are way too many younglings" unavoidable non-issue), etc. which in turn can ruin your social enjoyment of pretty much anything and everything.
You just need to know where and how to look. (and where/how not to)
Learn to ignore what you don't want instead of completely cutting yourself off from it, for your own sanity.
Though really, you're complaining about people around you being perverts while selling/drawing porn; I don't know what you're expecting.

thank you for your feedback!
of course you point out an ironic circumstance with your last line. the comprised form of toastlogs surely is prone to let me not come across as clear as i achieve to be. let me just say i have no problem with kinky furries per se, especially as i know i´m a kinky guy myself.
but i want to make some distinctions here... it´s a difference for example if you talk about kinky art between people you know are interested in doing so, or if you bring up kinky jokes and talk about sex unasked between people you don´t know they actually want to talk about or are already comfortable enough knowing you to warm up to the themes.
i lie to talk about porn if i think about it, as i spend a lot of time getting to know it´s facettes and thinking about it from both my perspectives as a consumer and art-producer. but i have a basic understanding on how others don´t want to have this as a normal conversation theme in a casual meeting an could be put off if i bring it up unasked ("too much information...").
for most of what you said else i think i can agree with you. we don´t have such different opinions!

nothing.
it can be a problem how much you tell about your kinkiness and in what manner. i´m very kinky obviously, but i keep information on it very limited in my real life conversations, if i know people don´t take an actual interest to learn about it.
i can understand the urge to bring yourself out there and talk as openly about everything as you like... but many people don´t tick this way
and get irritated when confronted with themes they don´t want to talk about.
i have not been innocent of making similar mistakes myself. some years ago i printed my first furreal-magazine, with lots of erotic and pornographic furry-content in it, and i brought it with me to a japan-germany-regulars table to let people have a look at it. i was proud at my product and happy to found a new way to get creative as an artist. but then i realized how people were put off by looking at art they´re not used to, comfortable with or prepared to watch. i shouldn´t have done that thing in this particular social constellation!
