Mah, I think sooner or later someone will come and bother you... Though probably for something totally not related. ^_^'''
Happened to me not too long ago that I was inspired by another adopt to make a design (inspired as in, oooh, nice, stars and blue/gold palette, let's use the most common and overused themes ever after black and white) and yet when someone came claiming that I 'copied' a design, it was in no way related to my actual inspiration and I had no idea who the artist was.
So I think that these kind of things happen a lot, but most of them can be solved simply by talking. If there are two reasonable people on each side, then it's going to be easy to agree on something. If one is a jerk... Jerks happen, unfortunately the only suggestion is to find it out soon and deal accordingly.

That's true. It's bound to happen.
Sorry to hear that :( Sounds like something that happened to me. An artist came to me and told me that a design I bought was 'copied' from one of theirs after I've had it for 2 years and offering this and that for me to just not use the design.
Agreed, which is the sad side of it. You hope for reasonable, yet get a jerk.
I spoke to a friend about mine and they saw 'sarcastic' tone to the 'resolved' journal. It still ticks me off that they think that 'it's resolved', yet they ignored all that I tried to explain to them, when I never really agreed... just explained over and over.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and point out something that I am at fault of as well. "I never really agreed... just explained over and over."
I think that people like us, who hope for a peaceful compromise, are very unwilling to take stands or to be upfront on what we want because we don't want to provoke a bad reaction or appear like we're the jerks, so we 'explain' things and hope the other person understands and proposes a compromise. Unfortunately, this works only when we find another 'peace-maker', because a more confrontational person will just push and push and at a certain point decide that they're right because you are not actually deciding anything but 'beating around the bush'. And we will not contradict them, because that would mean getting confrontational, so we just do nothing about it.
I wouldn't want to be on the more aggressive scale of personality, I like how I am, but at the same time, I've started to realize that there's nothing wrong in saying, after the lenghty 'This happened, and that happened, so this is the situation', 'And this is what I will do about it'. Because this actually puts you in the middle of the spectrum; you are not 'undecided' but at the same time you're not the 'judge, jury, executioner' kind. A lot of discussions go differently based on how assertive you sound.

We all have faults. We're only human.
Agreed, you're nailed it on the head.
It just bugs me how the sarcasm they used over it being 'resolved' in the end. Like they won, when they didn't. I feel like I've been explaining to deaf ears with this person after their 'victory'.
I know what you mean there. I'm usually a pretty quiet person and yet, I can change into a very protective person when it's not needed.
Then again, I think it's what all went on during my school years showing through. I never had a voice in anything, yet now that I can... it can come out so... misunderstood than what I meant.

I am sorry to hear that, sometimes these things burn for a long time.
(Also, sometimes you don't really need to follow someone else's expectations. They think they've won, fine, let them have their victory and then keep on using your design. They come back at you saying that you 'agreed' to let them have the design? You actually never said anything in that sense, it's not your fault that they assumed.)
But that is me being petty, since they want to do what they want, then you can do what you want as well, where's the difference?

In time, it'll fade. I hope.
Agreed. I don't try to follow the expectations of others, just personal expectations on where to lead the species.
You gave me some good advice and it's making things easier to just move ahead.
Though, in the end, it just sours the thought of any future releases at all. Even with any guidelines to be followed and repercussion if not.
That's true.

There will always be drama for something or the other on internet. Unfortunately, the popularity of closed species has made these 'copyright' claims more common and more... Accepted? I mean, once you would have had drama only with tracing or re-posting, now it's enough to have a similar pose and a same-themed character to make people want to yell 'copycat' and have others agree with them.
It's a good thing in case of true copycats, but sometimes coincidences happen and a theft/copy accusation shouldn't be something posted for everyone to see when it's not warranted.
