My excuse to show my redesign for Pendragon
AFTER A WHOLE ARTBLOCK FOR SUMMER THAT NEVER HAPPENED TO ME IN THAT SEASON, I HAVE MOTIVATION AGAIN *IN FUCKING SEPTEMBER*
Anyway, I had this pic in my head for about about one month. I never drew King Pendragon a second time after I drew him there 2 years ago to present him and my first BD OCs http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20551417/ But meanwhile, not only I added more characters, so many more I can't make other lists because they would be endless, I also changed their bios and personalities in some cases. Pendragon remained the same goof I wanted him to be originally, not immature and actually a good king, but loving to have fun more than responsibilities and being easily bored in boring stuff kings must do. Not only it was the occasion to finally show him in action, but also to redesign him.
Indeed, I planned to change (if I had not changed before) the designs of some of the OCs I drew, and Pendragon was the one who needed one the most to me : he looked too much like a slightly thinner, haired and blue-clawed younger Allfire. And as nobody was supposed to realize Allfire was his son until he pulled out Excaliburn, that would not make sense if he was almost his clone ! ESPECIALLY from Leodragon, he grew up with Pendragon as foster brothers and is as smart and observative as Flame (reminder in my HC she took from him), so him not recognizing a guy in age to be late King Pendragon's son with late King Pendragon's exact face while rumors of a bastard were around, that would be very stupid from him ! So I needed to redesign him in a way he still would have a family ressemblance with his illegitimate son (same snout shape, same horn on the snout, same eyebrows, and even if we don't see here same belly plates) allowing someone (in my HC, Burnevere) to notice there is actually a family likeness between the young knight and the dead king when not blinded by denial about it like Regent Leodragon, while adding differences (a more prominent lower jaw with long lower canines of the size of the snout horn sticking out of the mouth and brown scales) so suspicions would not be raised at the entrance of young Allfire in Camelhot to become a squire.
It was also an occasion to fiiiiiinallyyyy draw younger Leodragon, here as a prince and his older foster brother's body guard and counsellor. The 2 brothers loved each other a lot and Prince Leodragon would be crushed when King Pendragon would die years later, but they had very different views on rules, duties and kingdom works. Leodragon was much more responsible (again let me remind you Pendragon was too, he just also wanted to have free times and fun) and more mature dragging his brother into meetings he didn't want to intend and giving him advice. I finally gave him the attire he wore on his brother's reign I had in mind for more than one year now ! OMG UPTIGHT LEODRAGON WITH AN OPEN JACKET SHOWING HIS CHEST ?! He was in his 20's he had a phase. but that's the most "hip" he could ever bring himself to look like
