I'd say that 8-9 years of repressed anger about the deaths of his parents (Going off from the comic), and cleaning up Corneria's messes. Fox would've seen some shit for that amount of time. He's still young and experienced more than one ought to for 10 life times. I can imagine he'd grow a particular attitude about life and his work. He's got more growing to do over the course of the comic.

You know? Something I really like about this page is I can't tell if Fox is a genius or suicidal here. I'm really placed in Krystal's perspective here, wondering if he is going to get them killed or actually manage to save Tricky. For meta reasons, I know they'll prevail, but at this moment in the comic, you can't really be sure if Fox is as in control as he has been shown to be in the past few pages. There are factors he can't predict thanks to the element of magic and the alien world he finds himself on. Krystal though has no choice, as the sweet dialog indicates he's going through with it regardless if she can think up something, which Fox sincerely doubts she'll be able to.
