As someone who became a furry solely for escapist purposes, this tugs at my now horribly corrupted heart strings. Seriously, wow, this almost made me cry. Held it together though. You did wonderfully, thank you for posting this.

I can't relate completely, but my mother has been in some pretty awful relationships while I grew up..but I was so close to my teens at that point. HOWEVER this is really incredible, and has so much raw emotion behind it. Lovely job.

This is actually far more realistic and close to my own childhood then I am comfortable with.... It is a great picture and well painted in all ways, but it knocks to a gate I have solidely locked and chained up.

Thanks, I find it valuable to try and tell stories visually that people can relate too. Jasper gave me direction for the story and the characters.

I have to wonder how many of your viewers, or how many in the furry fandom, this scene would relate to. Based on the responses it seems like quite a lot. I was very fortunate to live in a stable home where this didn't happen. In all my childhood remember only once ever that my parents really had a shouting match fight, over something really stupid. I can't imagine the psychological damage of having to dread listening to something like this every day.

I like creating stories that people can find something for themselves in. Details and set ups suggest something but the conclusion each person reaches is derived from their own perception.

Was either my mom arguing and getting mad at me for failing to do my homework, or teachers SCREAMING IN MY GODDAMN FACE TO FINISH YOUR SCHOOLWORK ALREADY, or kids throwing rocks and stale veggies at me, and me making shit worse because of my violent and dramatic reactions.

I became a furry because believing that's what's gonna be my next life make me want to live the rest of this life the best as I can, even as I pretty much just live to escape it.

Growing through harsh conditions can prepare you to withstand it as an adult while others struggle too. <('v'<)

I failed that, became a weak ass piece of shit instead.
