The peaceful snooze I was enjoying in my usual position on the hearth of the Rabbitfangs fireplace was suddenly and rudely brought to a halt as I was dropped into several inches of tepid water right at Kat's feet. It didn't take long for Molly to fill me in on the present circumstances using a direct mind link though, and I quickly understood what had made it necessary to bring me here right away.
Dee's succesful attempt to change back to his normal male form using the power of the full moon had caused Kat to transform into her were state due to their bond. This being Kat's first time as a full werewolf, years before the expected time and without warning, had confused her and she was teetering on the edge of going feral. She needed my help to calm her and assist her to change back to her girlish normal state. So, using werewolf language of yips, growls and other vocalizations which she and I had developed as a way of communicating, while rubbing back and forth against her legs to calm her with the comforting feel of my furry presence, I explained to her what was going on and how to use the moonlight to restore herself to her usual petit size and shape. It took quite a bit of will power to accomplish it, but after several minutes she began the transition, and once started it became easier for her so that the entire process was accomplished in fairly short order. Of course as she changed, so did Dee, and presently both girls were standing there, clothing in sad state and somewhat embarrassed, but happy to see me. I was immediately pounced upon and hugged and petted while my tail swung quickly back and forth with my own happiness at the success achieved in restoring the girls to what was now their usual forms. Molly joined in the hug for a few moments, after which we all turned and followed Madame Boudreaux into her home to thank her and prepare to take our leave. Our mission here had been accomplished as well as it could be and it was time to move on.
Thus started a journey lasting somewhat over two years, during which I was the constant companion and protector of Dee and Kat as they sought a way to not break the bond that connected them, but to control it and allow them to choose their forms independently. A way that would allow one of them to transform without the other being forced to change at the same time.
Molly had to return home to California soon after the visit to Madame B. She had work to do there and of course she didn't want to be separated from her lover, Deborah for any length of time. I, being the one family member
who could remain away from the household for an indefinite length of time without a problem, and who could pass as a pet, albeit a rather unconventional one, being as I am quite a large wolf; and since I could talk to Kat in our shared werewolf manner, was the best choice for their constant companion and guardian. In fact, I was passed off as their faithful canine pet so much of the time that it became second nature for both of the kids to treat me as such, and sometimes they even seemed to forget that I was anything but that. I say this because either that is the case, or they became so used to my constant presence that they acted as though I were not in fact Kat's father, but merely the wolf companion I appeared to be. For instance they often showed no thought to my being in the same room with them as they made love. I rather liked those times for many reasons, not the least of which was that it made me very happy that my daughter had found the perfect mate for herself and was becoming more and more content with things as they were, and I could observe how the two of them were falling ever more deeply in love. I liked Dee very much myself, and considered us all to be very lucky that they had found each other.
We were often joined by varying members of the family who would travel with us for a while and share in the
search for people, books, places of magical power.....anything that would aid towards the goal we sought. We were constrained to remain in the boundaries of the United States and travel by automobile since any attempt to leave the country would subject us to scrutiny that would most likely reveal us as supernatural beings, and we did not want to deal with that. Not at all! But we were quite happy and content to motor hither and yon, tracking down leads that had us criss-crossing the country many times. Aside from the fact that we never did manage to find the answer to our quest, we thoroughly enjoyed seeing so much of the country and meeting so very many interesting people. Of course there were a lot of adventures, not all of which were comforting or fun.
For instance, there was the time when we were in the Four Corners area, which has a lot of interesting places and some very intriguing histories. We were heading west as it happened, and Heather, who is an amateur anthropologist and archaeologist, was travelling with us. She mentioned the Navajo people, or the Diné, which is their name for themselves. They have a very unique belief system which is based upon Hozho, which is said to be the most important word in the Navajo language and is loosely translated as peace, balance, beauty and harmony. To be “in Hozho” is to be at one with and a part of the world around you. When one is not in Hozho for some reason, be it illness, attitude or any number of other reasons, a 'sing', which is a complicated ceremony performed by a Hatathli, or medicine man in English, can be arranged to 'cure' the person so afflicted and bring them back into Hozho. Well, all of us thought that perhaps if we could arrange a sing for the couple, it might be helpful, since it most definitely works for the Diné.
So we went into Shiprock, New Mexico, which we believed to be the central cultural center of the Navajo Nation, in search of someone who could put us in touch with an hatathli. When we tried to explain our problem and the help we sought, we found ourselves greatly feared and we were asked quite politely to leave the Navajo Nation and never to return. Noting the obvious fear and revulsion we engendered in all those Diné who were made aware of what we were, we obliged them, but not without trying to find out what the problem was. What Heather had
failed to find out in her studies was the widespread belief in 'skinwalkers', who are evil Navajo witches that transform themselves into feral animal form to take advantage of the animal's inherent powers to do harm to people. They are so feared by many that some will not even speak of them for fear of retribution. Obviously, to them we were 'skinwalkers'! I believe to this day that we would have been in big trouble if we had not complied, and the Diné we talked to been so polite as to explain to us the reason we needed to leave. This was probably the closest we came to real trouble on the journey. Most of the time it was quite pleasant and we most often enjoyed our little adventures.
During all the seeking out help and just plain sightseeing we did, I slowly became aware that Kat and Dee were becoming less and less interested in finding a way to 'cure' the way that their transformations induced the change in the other at the same time any more. During the trip they had transformed at least thirty times and bit by bit they had become used to the way they were locked together in this fashion. Eventually it no longer seemed to trouble them. In fact many times I observed them on the nights of the full moon, running together through the woods or desert or wherever we happened to be, just high with being young, healthy and so much in love with each other. The quest was becoming history, and without even having to discuss it with them, I could see that they would turn out to be happy just as they were as long as they could be together forever.
And so, one night along about two and a half years into the trip, Dee, Kat, myself and Liane, who was at that time
travelling with us snuck through the gates closing off the entrance to the Meteor Crater near Winslow, Arizona and walked out to the edge of the crater. It was a full moon night, and both of the kids were in their transformed states. Dee and Kat stood right at edge of the crater, seemingly entranced with the beauty of the night, while Liane and I moved off a ways to give them some privacy. They always loved having some alone time. Though Liane and I were both a good hundred yards away from the couple, we both have ultra sensitive hearing. I won't say we were exactly eavesdropping on them, but I'd developed the habit of keeping them whithin hearing distance just on general principles. One never knew what surprises might lurk under the cover of darkness. But somehow this enchanted place.... the moon, the stars, everything was telling us this was going to be a special night. An extra good kind of special! We weren't wrong either, for after a long silence from the pair we distinctly heard Dee ask Kat for her paw in marriage!
I'm surprised that those two lovebirds didn't hear our suppressed exclamations of glee, for Liane and I were ecstatic over this turn of events and were hard put to contain ourselves. As we left the crater to return to our motel rooms, not a word did they speak of what had just happened, and of course neither Liane nor myself were about to let on about what we'd heard unless the couple had heard our rejoicing and tripped us up about listening in. The next morning over breakfast the two kids, who were not nearly the same youngsters who had begun this trip, told us of the plans they had made together during the rest of the night.
Following their plan, the next day we made straight for Las Vegas. It seems that during the night they had decided to have their wedding in an Elvis chapel with Liane as their bridesmaid and ring bearer, and myself in the dual role of father giving away the bride, and Best Man. They'd also decided to marry with Dee in his male form, which meant Kat would be fully werewolf. They figured, and rightly so, that there in Las Vegas, in an Elvis chapel, no one would find it amiss for her to be wearing nothing but her luxurious, silky coat of fur and a ringlet of flowers on her brow.
So with their vows spoken and rings slipped onto waiting fingers, all that remained to be said by Elvis was 'I now
pronounce you man and wife.......you may kiss the bride'. And I can attest that Dee did so. Thoroughly!
Friends, this brings the Kat and Dee series to an end. I've had so much fun thinking up these little pictures and getting Saltypaw, now Nivarra, to bring them to life! I hate to stop, but every story comes to a logical conclusion and this seems like the right conclusion for this story that began with The Shopping Trip where Kat hijacks Dee for a clothes model and ends here with Dee marrying Kat. I've decided that the picture of Kat and Dee with Kat massively pregnant is canon after all, so there will be more pictures of the couple moving forward, but spaced out more and not necessarily telling a story like I did here. I may also do some flashbacks to their journey; filling in more of their adventures as they sought a way out of their seemingly cursed bond. I want to thank all of you who have followed the story, for your delightful comments and hope that you had a lot of fun along the way too. More than that, I want to thank
nivarra , who was Saltypaw until just recently, for taking on and completing this series for me. At times she allowed me to commission pictures in the series even though she was closed to commissions to anyone else. She is a darling, a sweetheart, and a great artist, and I'm proud to call her my friend also. Thanks, Salty! For everything!!

Tiger Elvis really belongs to Elvis Presley! I made him a tiger for this picture for 2 reasons. One: there are no humans in my world, and Two: I found this quote online that decided me on using a tiger for Elvis' fursona,
''In “Tiger Man,” Elvis Presley sings that he’s the “king of the jungle” – and that’s a pretty accurate description of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.'' And since tigers are much more badass than lions....in my opinion anyway....that settled the matter. >:3

Oh my. Where do I even start with this one?
First off, I love the story! It's a lovely way to wrap things up, and it does leave plenty of room for flashbacks to various parts of their years long journey, should you ever decide to do any. I was particularly interested in their experiences with the Navajo and I really enjoyed how you were able to incorporate their beliefs into the story in a very respectful sort of way. I learned a thing or two as well, which is always very cool! And of course Dee's proposal to Kat was so sweet. As were Liane and Ivan's reactions to it, the sneaks!
The art is adorable, and somehow getting a Vegas wedding seems entirely appropriate for these two and the wild adventure their life together has already been. I'm sure they have plenty more adventures ahead, too, no matter whether you get them drawn or not. It has been such a fun ride, and so full of unexpected twists and turns, too! I never would have guessed, on seeing the shopping trip picture, that it would all end up here. But the best stories are the ones that surprise us, after all.
Liane and Ivan look so wonderful as the proud parents, and Kat and Dee make such a beautiful couple. Even if Kat's wearing nothing but a garland of flowers, she looks so very elegant, and Dee looks very handsome in his suit there.
Leaving the pregnancy image as canon opens up some very interesting possibilities, too! I know they'll have a beautiful child. Given who Kat's parents are, that's a certainty! And it will be interesting to see how their own transformation abilities manifest, or if there are any interesting twists ahead for them, too.
It's a little bittersweet to see Kat grown up so fast, but - odd as it might sound - I'm very proud of her for growing up to be so awesome!

I'm really glad you like the story! I wasn't too sure of myself in the way it was written.
I've been reading about the Navajo since I was in my 20's. My grandmother got me interested in them when I was just a child. Between scholarly books about their religion and the novels by Tony Hillerman, who wrote a very respected series of books about Navajo police that treated the reader to many correct aspects of their culture, and are a learning experience as well as a pleasure to read, I felt like I could include them, as you said, respectfully and fairly accurately. You might enjoy Mr. Hillerman's books yourself. They're a treat!
I just had to have Dee ask Kat for her paw in marriage! It was too good a chance to pass up.
As to Liane and Ivan overhearing....well, they ARE Kat's parents. Of course they're gonna eavesdrop!
I thought the Elvis wedding was just the right touch to put '30' to this series. And absolutely the kind of thing two fun loving kids in love would do. You know, they're still only 19 years old. Kat hasn't grown up that fast. Nor has she finished growing up. She still has a lot of maturing to do, though I think she's come along quite well. And so has Dee.
Salty's art is always adorable The way I see them, Ivan is staring at Kat thnking how much he loves and is proud of his daughter, Dee is looking all dreamy like this is a dream come true, Kat is looking at Dee like she's ready to pounce him right there, and Liane is giving hot looks at Elvis who she plans to chat up after the wedding...try for a hook up. =p
There's lot's of room for more to come. I'm just going to take a break here basically. I go for surgery Tuesday morning early too and i'm told I may need radiation therapy after, as well. So this is a good place to call it over for now as I don't know what will be going on in my life for a while exactly.
I'm so happy that you are pleased with Kat and her progress. It'll be fun to give her and Dee a kid too one of these days.

I loved the story. I love everything you've written for these two. As far as I'm concerned, you're an excellent story-teller and if you ever decide to do any more, with Kat & Dee or anyone else, I'd love to read it! You're also not allowed to doubt your abilities again. You're awesome!
I thought it was a lovely way to round things out, and I really like that you took the time and trouble to give us a resolution for things like this. I know things may get rather rough for you for a while, though I certainly hope not. But I can't think of a better way to conclude their story and the extra effort you put into this, and the whole series, really shows!
As for Liane and "Elvis" there, he is a cutie, so I certainly don't blame her for looking for a little after action, well, action. Poor Ivan, though. Then he'd be left alone. Maybe he and I could go out for walkies.
*Snugs and kisses your cheek* Best wishes for Tuesday. And for after. I'll be pulling for ya!

I'll try not to doubt myself henceforth, if it pleases you. XD
Thank you. It worked out to come at a very good time, just in case I don't feel like commissioning more anytime soon. As to the effort I put out on this story and the pictures. ha ha....I bet I got more pleasure out of it all than all of the people who saw the pictures and liked them combined. I had a wonderful time doing each one, and the series just practically wrote itself. Kat and Dee came to life for me. I think they actually exist at this point. You, of all the people I know, are the one most likely to know exactly what I mean by what I say here.
You know Liane. We'll probably have little tiger striped bunnies running around the place soon if she gets her way.
Thanks, Megan. I have my very oldest friend and her husband coming down from up by San Francisco just to see me and take me to and from the hospital for this. I can't think of a better show of friendship than them putting aside their lives to come help me through this. I'm sure it will be fine, even if it gets a little rocky or strange. Radiation therapy will definitely be something new to me, should they decide to do it....which my doctor thinks likely.
BTW......more surprises coming up in a short while. After I've called my sister to tell her the news. It doesn't rain but it pours and two more commissions just came through in the last hour. One is for you!
Now you can wonder about it until I get it posted in a bit.
Today has indeed been a wondrous day in many ways! *does a happy dance, pulling you in for smooches as I pass near*

I'm so glad you had so much fun with this. I do know, very well, how characters can come alive, in a way, and feel as real to you as anyone. I'm sure it should come as no surprise to you know that Ciara was the first character of mine to really do so, and I think that's why I've fallen so deeply in love with her. And if you had more fun writing it than anyone, you must have an absolute blast, because I know it was super fun watching these two come to life!
*Grins* I wasn't going to be the first one to say so. But I think it would be delightful if it happened. After all, both Heather and Liane herself have proven how good stripes can look on a bunny!
Hooray for friends who stick with you like that! It's so sweet of her to do that for you! I'm glad to know you're going to have people there by your side through this, too. I know how important that is, and it makes me feel better to know you have such a strong support.
*Snuggles and smooches back* You're so sweet and wonderful and such an amazing friend! I'll be looking forward to the surprises, and here's to many more happy surprises for you in the future, too!

Yep, Ciara coming to life on you is no surprise at all. It's funny that one of your characters was the first...besides Liane, of course....to come to life for me. I mean Jessamine of course. But oddly enough, Kat has become even more lively to me. In fact I'm afraid Kat is out of my control now. Don't tell my shrink, but she tells ME what to have her and Dee doing. Darn headstrong weregrrl!!
I dunno. It's very tempting. A little tiger blood in the family would be a nice addition. ;3 Then again, with Kat expecting and still no refs and just the one picture of Catherine and Sebastian, I've kind of got my plate full kid wise. Still......maybe......
Yes, Linda is bringing her husband Frank and their dog Floyd too. I'll be meeting Floyd for the first time. Their support is unbelievably welcome at a time like this!!
See? There you go again!

Awww, this is so cute! Kat and Dee are such a beautiful couple and I'm so happy that their story ends (for now anyway) with them getting married. That's so wonderful! You and Ivan look proud enough to bust and the happy couple as so utterly precious together!
I love the story. It sounds like a really exciting two years. Hanging out with the Navajo sounds like it would be really interesting, even if you were eventually asked to leave. And I suppose I can't blame them, really. Werewolves do seem to be bad news a lot of the time, even if we know that Kat and Ivan are both as nice as pie. And the idea of getting to travel the country and see things like that sounds fantastic! Even if the start of the quest was marked by trouble and conflicted feelings, it's great to see it all end so happily.
It's nice to know there may be more of these two in the future. But I don't blame you for wanting to put it to bed for now. I just hope that the future will turn out as bright for you as it did for these two!

Thanks, Grace! I think it's a good ending ...at least a temporary ending. There WILL be more, just not quite so steadily.
I had to marry them. They were going to live together forever anyway, so being married makes sense. So does their doing it in the Elvis chapel! They're still only 19 and a pair of fun loving kids. Ivan and I are both extremely proud of them. Though right now i'm thinking I'd like to hook up with Elvis after the wedding is over. Some tiger striped bunnies would look good running around the Rabbitfangs place, don't you think?
Yes, the Navajo have quite a thing about skinwalkers, and I'm afraid Kat, Dee and Ivan are just to close for comfort! Everything works out happily and well though.
I'm hoping my future is bright too. I'll be getting more surgery Tuesday morning, probably followed in the next month or so by radiation therapy. We gonna kill this thing!! *growls*

But the greek name fits so well! But Cestrum nocturnum? Whoo, a night flower. Real meaningful and different that. Same sappy stuff as a million other blooms! Nobody wants variety anymore. May as well just give her a black rose and be done with it.
But titanum, that's a beast of a flower, a massive marvel whose every aspect exudes raw, uninorable potency. You never see Jasmine in the news or drawing crowds of people, or holding records, no. Throw off the shackles of pretty, petty perfumed puffery and embrace the full diversity of nature says I! Don't whine because a plant doesn't smell like toilet water, it's not like most people smell any better.

Oh Fangs.
Fangs, Fangs, Fangs and dentures.
You'll never understand the true variety of flowers. They'll always be a garnish or a pot plant to you. You could be embracing Orchis italica as your floral emblem, or possibly Leptoceras menziesii, but alas and alack! Your imagination is too limited.

Keep it up, Professor. Maybe i'll send Kat and Dee on a cruise to New Zealand for their honeymoon and Kat can give you a big toothy hug for me to show there are no hard feelings. Though knowing you, you'd do your best to stick between her teeth and she'd require a good strong toothpick to remove the annoying feathers and such.
Please do, then they can pick up some real culture, rather than the kind they'd get around you, which mostly appears on petri dishes. Sadly bird nomming is against the law, what with us being rare and beautiful examples of wild nature, but they can visit our angora farms and pick up a few bunnies. Or a few hundred, we have enough. And they come pre-prepared for maximum enjoyment.
You think a werewolf cares about your laws? Pfui! You don't fool me with the rare and beautiful thing either. You may be rare, but it's because you're all so ugly none of you want to mate another of your species. She'd be doing you a mercy if she chowed all of you down. Though I'm not sure even a werewolf could stomach that much putridity.
I'll tell her to bring the angoras home with her. I need a stockpile of food and good fur to stuff a new comforter. Winter will be here before you know it.

Of course she does! It's a well known fact, to all who know it well, that the first parliment of my country was staffed entirely by wolves and, due to that historical precedent, all werewolves show respect for my country's laws and regulations. (Except for the one about possums, but c'mon, nobody respects that.)
Your problem is that you can't appreciate true beauty. It's not your fault I suppose, your house has too many mirrors. And for your information, that's my natural musk, only slightly enhanced by my weekly feta cheese facials.
I'm not sure that you'll get ALL of the angoras, they're an awfully tempting thing to snuff out, as are most bunny based things. You might get the hairballs though.

You fell for that faked NZ history taught in school, huh? Don't feel badly. I believed the horseshit they taught about how the white man was a good thing for all the benighted indians who were scratching out a sad living here in North America till we came along and introduced them to the European ways and smallpox.
True beauty is in the mind of the beholder. I behold you and feel ill. The feta cheese helps slightly to mask your stench but as long as I stay upwind, I can approach withing striking distance.
Guess I'll take what I can get. Even the hairballs are worth something.

My country's 200 years old, there's no history, we all remember how it was when we was young. (It's the werewolf blood, it keeps you spry!)
Figures you'd go on strike. I know the market kinda fell outta the bunny business since Heff's death, but I didn't know conditions had got THAT bad. Can't you make a living on internet smut? You have a lot of... potential there.

Wow, Kat's Very Beautiful!
What a Touching finish to a Beautiful Story of Love, Happiness and Personal Discovery.
I must admit i was a bit confused at first, until i realized the story was being told through Ivan's Eyes. A Very Fitting and Interesting perspective in the story i think.
While i am saddened that the story is coming to it's inevitable conclusion, Still i find Condolence in knowing that This Story really has no End.... Only New and Exciting Beginnings as the two live out their days in Continuing Happiness.
Once again your beautiful story telling has warmed this cold dragon's heart, Thank you Bunny! Thank You for such a Great Ride.

Thanks for such heart warming praise, Draggy!
I wanted to do something totally different for this. Thus Ivan telling the story. Besides, it helps people think of him as a person and not just a token werewolf.
Don't worry too much about the story ending. As you infer, it's just preparing for another beginning to continue.

I'm sorry Bunny.... I'm not going to try your patience.
I wasn't Really gonna hit her with the hammer.... It was just an idle threat, nothing more i promise. Even though she does take Great pride in picking on me, i Still Love her as a Sister and would Never harm a hair on her little pink Chicken Faced Head!

I understand. I've been Burned Many times myself.... And ocasionaly it still happens. But i agree that Trust, just like Respect must be Earned and Not given Freely.
Still, if Bunny Trust's you then that's good enough for me until proven otherwise. But that's just a Personal Observation and i in No way would Attempt to sway you in way of my personal belief's.

Ahhh..... But you Mustn't judge Me based on the actions of the few.
Ya'know, This has come around a few times Before. Your Mum told me the same thing as have a couple other friends i have on here. I'd like to know who these Bad Seed's are who keep Slandering the Good Reputation of my Dragon kindred! I'd Certainly find out what they're problem is!
This I understand, and I'm sorry for Their actions.... Though i may not know them, i will Applogize for what they have done, Simply because Their Actions have caused problems for the Good Hearted Dragon's such as myself. Bunny (Your Mum) had the same Reservations for the same reason. I had to Prove myself to Her, just as i will to You if you'll allow me that chance. I'm Really Not a Bad Dragon... Anyone who knows me will tell you that my friend.

I definitely plan on more Dee and Kat. Moving into the future as well as flashbacks to their trip of discovery. It'll take some time, but it will happen.
Liane and Ivan, huh? I was kind of thinking of Liane maybe seducing Tiger Elvis and having a kid by him. Put some tiger blood in the old Rabbitfangs family. But Ivan won't disappear. He'll be lurking around. gotta keep an eye on his baby daughter and the grandkid to come, ya know?
