Heroines and Heroes may have great powers, but they are still living breathing beings, and the stress they live under is often extreme. Death, slavery and worse are common fates for the unlucky.
Some take to drink and sex to drown the horrors they have suffered or witnessed, while others bury themselves in work or in hobbies.
Dealanach is no such exception, his early life one of missing parents, grief and violence. As Duncan Gunn, he devotes most of his free time to physical training, but he has also discovered a hitherto hidden talent for metal sculpting.
Originally created by his friends as a way for him to train his electro-magnetic abilities, Duncan has turned it into a hobby in itself. While he lacks any formal tutoring, the otter's work has gained some recognition by those with artistic knowledge.
At this stage, he must make do with whatever metals and alloys he can obtain - iron, aluminium, lead and pewter, all collected from scrap yards and abandoned buildings.
One day however, he aims to create his masterpiece - a lifesized bronze statue of his mother at her finest hour, to ensure that she will never be forgotten. More than that, for him it's a way of visualising the mother he can't remember yet has always loved.

That's the thing, Duncan has to realize, that country where Shiekh Terrible is, they signed no such accords. So therefore, BOS and NOT. Supers can get killed or ensloved. Another thing Duncan has to realize, is that he can't do it all and he most definitely can't save everyone.
I hope he knows those latter two things.
And if he can't forgive himself. He's going to lose it, altogether.

This is all going to be part of his story arc - getting to grips with being a hero. He'll probably mellow out a bit later on. Don't forget, he's an angry young man with a lot to be angry about. He's not very well educated, either.
His sanity will be a big part of his story arc, too - whether he can manage the strain of being a law abiding hero, or whether he'll end up like The Punisher.
To prevent this from happening, he needs people to support him and listen to his frustrations - people who can re-assure him when he fails, people who can restrain him if necessary. That is why the Bureau would be a positive thing for him, it would give him the family support that he desperately needs.

A dirty little secret of those of us who work in emergency services (and I imagine it would extend to heroes as well) is that our suicide rate is more than double the national average due to the emotional and physical trauma we deal with.
So it’s important to have a (constructive) hobby, an activity to keep your mind occupied, because a wandering mind can be a dangerous thing.
