Kōri the Alolan Sandslash
Hello everyone, I'd like you all to meet my good friend, Kōri and as you can see she is an Alolan Sandslash. I met Kōri during my travels through the Alolan region on top of Mount Lanakila when she was just an Alolan Sandshrew. She is a brave and loving Sandslash from Alola who seemed to have fused with the Blue Orb by mistake.
I was just hiking up the mountain with my five other Pokemon all warm and cozy and safe in their Poke Balls when I felt the air get colder. It was already cold to begin with as it was a snowy mountain but it looked like the worse was yet to come as a sudden blizzard came rushing in and I lost my way heading towards the Pokemon League. I sent out my Lycanroc, Crabominable & Umbreon to hopefully help us find some shelter to wait out the storm but unfortunately the storm just kept getting worse. I could see that the cold temperatures was really getting to my Lycanroc & Umbreon so I returned them to their Poke Balls even though they wanted to continue helping. Me and my Crabominable huddled up close to keep warm as he was used to these sorts of conditions after evolving here.
Night was starting to fall on to the mountain and the temperature dropped more when my Crabominable pointed out ahead of us as a silhouette was starting to approach us. It was an Alolan Sandshrew scurrying around and it seemed she wanted to help us find shelter. This seemed like our only chance for survival and so we took her on her offer and followed her to a cave where other lost Pokemon had gathered for shelter. The Sandshrew allowed me to let my other 4 Pokemon out of their Poke Balls as she brought us all over some berries to eat.
After the storm had past in the morning, all the other Pokemon had left the cave and it was time for me and my Pokemon to continue our trek towards the Pokemon League. Before leaving I had noticed that really kind Sandshew was still there and I was puzzled as to why she didn't leave. I knelt down and asked her if this was her home but she seemed to not have a home it seems and I didn't just want to leave her all alone after everything she had done for us. I thought about it for a minute and I asked her, "Would you like to come along with us? You'll have plenty of adventures, see new places and even make plenty of new friends." Sandshrew seemed very delighted in hearing all of that as she lept into my arms as a way of accepting my offer. I got out one of my Luxury Balls and tapped it on her head as she then was taken in by the red light and after a minute of shaking the ball clicked and she was mine. I let her out and knelt back down and asked her, "Would you like me to name you, Kōri?" It seemed she liked the name and from that point on she went by the name, Kōri.
As we all kept battling trainer after trainer with a few wild Pokemon in the mix, we all grew stronger and closer with our new family member. By the time we got to the top of Mount Lanakila, Kōri had evolved into an Alolan Sandslash and was stronger than ever. Before facing off against the Pokemon League we all rested up in the Pokemon Center and made plans for how we are gonna tackle the Elite Four. Everything we had learned and everything we have trained for was for these upcoming tough battles.
But, before heading to bed for the night I got a message from Nurse Joy saying there was a package for me. I went downstairs and got the package and asked Nurse Joy who sent it, she said "It seemed to have come from the Hoenn region but there was no return address or anything." So, I pondered a bit and said to myself, "The Hoenn region...? Haven't been there in a long time... but the Professor wouldn't just randomly send me something with no note or anything..." I thanked Nurse Joy and took it upstairs to open and upon opening it a bright blue light shone from the box as I peeked inside. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it was none other than the Blue Orb to summon Kyogre... but... why would someone send me this without a word of warning or notice. Something seemed up and I felt a pit in my stomach but nothing could of prepared me for what was about to happen next.
Kōri, my Alolan Sandslash decided to pick up the orb from the package as the orb glowed I quickly panicked and went to push her out of the way of the Blue Orb... But, I was too late, the Blue Orb fused itself with Kōri and now she had these markings that resembled the Blue Orb. Thankfully and by some miracle, Kōri was okay and wasn't feeling any pain or anything. The next morning I contacted Professor Kukui and told him everything that happened and he was quick to come by and check things out himself. It seemed as though nothing could be done to remove the Blue Orb from Kōri but it also seemed that it wasn't doing any harm either. We opted to leave things as they were but to also keep an extra careful eye on Kōri in case anything occurs.
So many questions and so little answers. Why did the Blue Orb not affect Kōri? Why was the Blue Orb sent to me in the first place? No idea, but what I do know, my adventures in Alola aren't coming to an end anytime soon.
I'd like to send a huge thank you to my good friend,
for creating this fantastic ref. I would highly recommend checking her out and sending her a commission or two.
