The Raccoons are going to be returning in a new special next year apparently - and I actually quite like the look of what I've seen so far! So of course I've had to draw them again - this time in their new outfits ^^. While I retained some of the design traits of the new series, I changed a few elements to suit my own taste, namely the ears and the tails.

That's my worse fear. I mean The Raccoons is a beloved show and I hate to see the creators sell out.
I also hope when they eventually end this show, they have a better last episode than the original series.
Not that it was a bad episode, its just I felt it wasn't the best way to end the series.

I don't really care much about this series. I want to know if the original series and the original specials will finally get a proper DVD release or digital media release of some kind?
Even if it's only in their home country of Canada, they still deserve one. It's a shame that fans of the original have to be subjugated to this. Plus a release of the soundtrack would be awesome as it was the soundtrack that helped make this show stand out in the first place. Sadly it doesn't seem likely that we'll get either in the foreseeable future.

Mark, this is the same guy who deliberately allowed the song "Run With Us" to be used in the non related slasher film; Hobo With A Shotgun, with the sole purpose of making more money, this coming from the actual producer of the movie who told me himself. Not so much about the money, but Gillis sadly DID give them permission to use the song. :(
It also sadly may very well be proof to the rumour that Gillis didn't care much for Season 1, hence why it was skipped in favour of Seasons 2 and 3 in Canada, that may just still be a rumour though and can't really be proven, except by Gillis himself. I'm sorry to say that I strongly think that nowadays he just sees these characters now as a means of making money and couldn't care less what happens to them.
Indeed he has become Cyril Sneer.

They're doing a Ducktales reboot too much with this. Bert's nose has taken Viagra. He looks far more roundheaded and probably needs more headfluff like Ralph. The Sneers redesigns are nice though, and are about the only thing I do approve of. The Raccoons made forests magical to me as a kid, and here they look a bit too pointy and stylised and lacking in those big plump fir trees I still equate with this show. I'm skeptical but it's the Raccoons, man. I'll probably still try it.
You must have see the trailer for the show too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XftmdrBPb4o
I noticed the main image of that webpage you mention in the description can be changed to show model sheets of the characters by clicking on the arrows and I've looking into them - Ralph comes across as being more nervous than before while it seems Melissa's being given a bit of an attitude. Anyway, your take on the updated Raccoons looks very good here. ^^
I've always thought that, if The Raccoons was ever to be rebooted, they should have gotten you on board to redesign the characters. It seems they're now going out of their way to prove just why I thought that!
Your picture here is already a big improvement over what they've come up with; a more natural evolution of the old style, while incorporating elements of the new. In other words: I like your take on the new designs - but not what they've come up with!

Regardless of how this reboot fares (I do hope it takes a similar approach to its predecessor), I hope this also means DVDs of the original series might be released, or even a
audio tracks of the original series' music!
I wonder if they'll keep "Run With Us" as the credits music, or if they might make a remix of it.
Also - I had no idea that the Sneers were supposed to be aardvarks. Live and learn!

What the hell did the Studio use? A Teen Titans Go template? If they wanted to do the original series proper justice, it should have been done in Japan because Animae. (I know it's a Canadian series and Kevin wanted it done by a Canadian company) Given that Kevin is overseeing the project, the storyline should be fairly good though.
I certainly wouldn't have The Raccoons done in anime if I was in charge. It too is far too generic. Kevin is overseeing the project but I don't think his role is beyond executive producer, at least as far as I am aware. I have mixed feelings about the new look - Ralph and Melissa look great, but Bert doesn't look quite right, and Cyril and Cedric I might get used to in time. The studio didn't want to hear from me, probably because I'm not based in Canada. Their loss XD
I really hope that the reboot comes out soon, it's been about 3 and a bit years since it was announced. It was even scheduled to come out last year according to Big Jump's page, but some stuff clearly went out of whack. Since Kevin Gillis himself is supposed to appear at some online convention this week, I hope he announces some reboot information then.
I, for one, hope that Kevin isn't out of touch and that the reboot lives up to my hopes and the standards set by the original series. Speaking of the original series, I recently posted something regarding a problem I have; not with the series itself, but that it isn't available to legally watch in its entirety.

Please consider signing the petition I've made and linked in the post, your help would be much appreciated!

I am suspecting this reboot might not happen after all, or at least change tack yet again as the site's not been updated for two years. Definitely worth asking him about it, and I'm interested to hear what he says if he does respond to such a question :) I still am not sure about the direction they are taking, the characters really should appeal to the old as well as the new fans, that's what's worked for Ducktales' 2017 reboot, an example of a reboot done well :)
