As seen evading an enfield, lionmice are hardy little rodents that inhabit the Barrier, using their sharp senses to avoid danger. Their name refers to not to the puff of fur on their otherwise scaly tails, but rather their reputation for attempting to turn the tables on their would-be attacker when escape proves impossible. They have been known to wound the faces and limbs of their many foes so severely that only the stealthiest or hungriest predators make regular meals of them. One report even cited a lionmouse eating its way out of the belly of a hawk in midair, though this is a dubious claim at best.
