thanks! if she was more manageable in public i'd wear her out more often. I tried at furfest last year and it was a bit harder than i expected, but i'm willing to try again once i get more practice in.

That is true, practice is key to getting used to the whole suiting scene. Is the problem with the tail or the heat? -c- also how was furfest?

Uhh...the tail wasn't too bad as I held onto it (someone intentionally stomped on it and damaged one of the spikes) but the heat wasn't nice. The worst part is visibility. The side facing eyes make things a little...difficult. Furfest was pretty good, they expanded a lot so there was a lot of wandering to do. Spent a lot of time out of suit since it was easier to get around that way.

Well, the tail pulling sucks I can only image how frustrating it is to get it stomped and having it get damaged. I hope that the person at least got told off... and for the heat did you get (or have) a neck fan? and the eyes on the side... they look nice but I understand the frustration. My older suit plazma was a skully birb, the only eyes where on the top and they were out to the side making it difficult not to bump into people or things -c-" even now with the current partial I own (cybercoon) has limited vision, it does like you said take practice.

Did you have a handler? (sorry I am kinda jumping from one topic to another, the tail stomping you mentioned got on my nerves)

We didn't catch who it was sadly, since I couldn't spin around that fast in a crowd. I don't really like the idea of using fans in a fursuit...the one i'm fixing right now, Luna, only weighs about 2 pounds so she's super comfy and breathable. Good to know i'm not the only person who gets that blind spot though.

I did...too actually (boyfriend and his friend). The boy got to lead me around and his friend did get to carry my tail from time to time.

Neat! It does look like it'd be handy. I actually have a hollow snout that actually connects the nostrils to where my nose is, it's a heat trap though so I might actually be opening it up into the mouth sometime.

My hopeful goal is just making a lighter weight head out of fiberglass or some other light plastic material. It'd be expensive but would make sense for the shape.

:o that skill would be nice to be practicing! It's coming around to the fandom in a wave with 3-d printing and other unusual methods to make heads and such :3

I've noticed that it's taking a long time for new techniques to be picked up. Personally, if I had the money I'd do movie-grade work since I know how to do it. Even foam would be more workable with the right molding techniques.

Well, the fandom has raised it's standards for suits, attitudes, and the way "we" act in the general public while in/out of suit.

And would you be doing foam bases or just like resin/mech bases?

True...but i've noticed people still clamor for same-faced suits that look like dogs no matter the species...

A bit of both. Foam for body padding for sure, as well as foam on some areas of a resin head. Mostly around the mouth, nostrils, and anywhere you'd want some squish as well as to stitch down fur (i can't stand the thought of glue with any fabric).

it's why I like more of the odd or even alien suits. they just stand out more than the common suits like that

Same. Or just different species than normally done. I'd love to see a tapir suit.
