During the second season of Wolfriders of Malvia, it wasn't just Milo and the other newer members of the mercenary group that were out doing things. Occasionally the older members from the first season would get picked up again as well and go on their own adventures simultaneously.
One such adventure was the search for a way to open a tower in the city of Amaranth, which had been encased in otherworldly crystal by that weapon of mass destruction Ya Narana used during the Intervention. The newer party went off to the north to find some rumored device that could remove it, while the older party, including Talbot, went south to a nearby island called Powell to see if there was a physical or magical route that led inside the tower there.
I won't get into their activities in Powell too much because it was a bit of a long and complicated mess, but the island was basically divided into 3 (or 4, depending on how you looked at it) factions controlling different halves of the city that the party had to try and be diplomatic with as much as possible, to try and locate the rumored path to the tower. Being world-famous heroes by this point, they got in with the nobility crowd to a degree and even were able to rent a mansion to stay in for their duration. And, of course, they were invited to a fancy rich party ball thing at a point.
That's where this picture of Talbot comes in, who had to buy some nice formal robes to go to the ball in, rather than his regular drab robes. I can't really cite specific inspiration because I'm pretty sure they were just random robes and clothes found on Pinterest. I think the fancy gold embroidery designs combined with the dark blues give Talbot a kind of official and formal look.
You might also notice Talbot has bags under his eyes in this picture, which is not only in reference to a specific recent-at-the-time incident with a cursed book preventing him from getting proper sleep, but also the fact he (like the rest of the party) was having a pretty stressful not-great time in Powell. Poor big dumb nerd puppy.
