Did some more poses with the redesigned character design to test some ideas about ink and paint.
I had an epiphany that the way that I was doing it was wrong. So I tested my new method to see how well it would work. Pleased with the results. A lot faster and better results after a few tries.

So what’s different?
I was doing inking on a layer then painting fill colors beneath it then light and shadow on that. I always found myself cleaning up thfe same egress over and over again. My new model is to work like traditional ink and paint and work front to back.

This has some advantages. I only work with the finicky edges once and on my next layer I can quickly draw under the layer that is above and be sloppy. Dark color show holes better so it’s faster in that regard too. After that I work my color layers front to back. Anything that goes on top that’s the same color is on a layer. Merging each layer down as I feel it’s finished. Exciting!
