Back in the 1200s there was no such thing as the super training stadium that is in gen 6 of pokemon. So each poke had to travel to various areas to practise, and even when you had capped the stat you could still train there for whatever reason you wish to list. For the attack stat which Henrik had already capped, he trained his raw strength. Punching boulders to rubble with his fists and his maws crushing rocks to gravel, his strength matched the pride of a mega mawile, which has the highest raw attack stat in the whole series without stat boosting moves or items.
Slight vent here. Honestly, I've for a long time wanted to just get a pic of a mega mawile's maws that were as big as possible, and this is very likely just a one-off thing. But if I'm gonna be honest, while waiting for this I showed a few people a wip here and there... and I got... less than positive reactions to the maws' size. Had to sit down and think for a while with all of these things pointed out, but at the end of the day I remembered something I try to keep as a motto here; I get these pics because I want to get them. Not because everyone else wanted it. It's my characters and I can do whatever I want with them.

Big maws are a given, hehe. The training yes, but also the idea behind the training, the overall location (the valley) etc. It reminds me of some stories, anime, and movies. Which makes me wonder why more static art doesn't take this approach since it's so popular in other media. The whole "training montage" thing is basically a classic at this point. This piece is also artistically cohesive too, and that's something I really like. It's not common to see an art style that compliments the concept so well.
