I would like to start off by saying that no, Kai did not evolve. At least as far as he, Yami and the story my boyfriend and I are writing for the two of them are concerned, he will remain a Dewott.

I've always believed there isn't enough art of this pokemon on the internet.
I'll almost definitely be using Kai's evolved form in some non canon writings and commissions. :3
