"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings." ~ Alice in Wonderland
Still going through the old stuff :) Commission for
Alterflane at Confuzzled 2015. The last at-Con Commission I did before falling over. I had *technically* sworn off doing at-Con commissions that year because of how I was feeling, but when Alterflane asked me to draw a TF of Trent into anything at all, I couldn't resist :)
The theme was Alice in Wonderland. And with all the Chesire Cats, March Hares, White Rabbits and Mad Hatters at the Convention, I couldn't help but feel those poor oysters might be missing their dancing partner.... ;)

Alice in Wonderland is utterly bizarre and totally confusing - so it's not just you XD
I think the TF would be more apparent if you knew the origonal character, or if this had been a sequence, but this was just a fun mid-panel. The original character doesn't have tusks, and has two fully functional legs, so the general concept is that it's the early stages of the little Oysters transforming him into a Walrus. How isn't specified, but I personally suspect they just want the Walrus to turn up so strongly, and poor Trent happened to get too close, and this is Wonderland after all ;)
There's totally a wider concept I could get into about the nature of desire in the allegory of the Walrus and the Carpenter, and the Oyster's apparent complicity in their own fate in the origonal... but ultimately that's just the kind of fancy I dream up while I'm drawing :) Really, it was mostly a fun way of making Alterflane's annual CFZ TF order into something themed. It would be hard to show that properly in a single page, but the viewer can whimsy if they like

Wow! That's certainly an explanation. Wasn't expecting that although it's cool how you can show such a whimsical world where nothing makes sense and include a transformation in it too.. yeah I couldn't tell it was a tf on its early stages but it makes a lot of sense now
