Kenith woke up in the middle of the night to suffering groans of pain, clearly the ones of a dragon. The moonlight speared through the entrance of his cave, making enough light for his trained eyes to distinctly see in the nighttime's gloom. A shiver ran down his spine as a dreadful thought crossed his mind. He raised his head and rapidly glanced around each of his sides. His heart skipped a beat. He jumped on his fours and desperately scanned the entirety of his cave even though he already knew he wouldn't find what he was searching for. But he wasn't ready for it, he never was. He froze, she wasn't there.
Memories flashed through his mind, a life lived with his loving mate, an entire past he knew was just smoke that would've poisoned him to death. But he let it permeate him, he breathed it all in. He wanted to believe it was real. That WAS real. SHE was real and was screaming for his help. Lost in his thoughts for a moment, he found himself staring at the back of his empty cavern, and what presented in front of him made his whole frame shiver. Despite the light illuminating the insides, there was no rocky floor there. All he could see was nothing but black, an immense curtain of void that threatened to absorb him and cease his existence.
As he was about to take a step forward, another cry of pain snapped him back to his frightening reality. He quickly turned and ran out into the open space in front of what he called his home, trying to make out where those cries came from. Another loud groan rose from the woods below. Left. He began running with all his strength towards the edge of the cliff where his cave was situated, raising small clods of earth with his deathly claws. With a mighty jump, he was high in the sky, looking for the source of his despair, looking for his mate, his love.
There he saw them, a dozen maybe more. He couldn't make out who or what they were, they all looked like identical black silhouettes, but it didn't matter now. In the middle of them, he saw her, tied on her back. He saw her beautiful white and gold scales tainted by her own blood. He saw her eyeing him, a view that would forever embed itself in his mind. With tears crawling down the sides of her head, she let out a last desperate call before closing her eyes in surrender. He couldn't bear such a sight. He swore to protect her, to always be at her side, that no one would ever hurt her. And yet this night kept screaming at him how much of a failure he was, filling him with sorrow and anger.
In a moment, everything ceased to exist. There was only his anger and desire for vengeance. He would kill them all, he would make them suffer and burn to ashes. He would make them feel the fear and pain they afflicted upon him. He unleashed his mightiest of roars before diving on them from the sky, his eyes glowing with hatred. He crushed upon two of them, making it the start of his tremendous killing spree. He fought them for what seemed like an eternity as they kept on attacking him from every angle. He didn't know how many of them he slayed that night, but he made sure none of them escaped his wrath.
The smell of blood and burning bodies filled the air as he tried to catch his breath, panting and huffing heavily while he looked at his red-stained claws. He did it, they were all dead. No one could harm her anymore now. An icy spear pierced his chest as her image came back into his mind. Exhausted, he used his last forces to slowly make his way next to her, gently nuzzling the side of her muzzle with his own. She was still alive, but her breath a mere hiss. Tears were quickly forming in his eyes and dribbling down on his loved mate. He satisfied his desire for revenge, but that didn't do anything to save her. She exhaled her last breath and in seconds her body was dissolving into nothingness right underneath his loving embrace. As he couldn't hold it back anymore, he broke out crying, and right when he thought that was too much for him, everything turned black.
The happy chirping of singing birds greeted him as he woke up from his slumber, laying on his back on his bed of furs and pillows humans gifted him. He rolled and loudly yawned before stretching his legs and wings. A few pictures of what was his last nightmare still floated in his mind but he didn't care much. By now he was used to having such dreams at night even if sometimes it was difficult to tell the difference between fiction and reality. He headed out and took in a deep breath of the fresh morning air. The lake, he thought, a bath in the near lake was exactly what he needed now. With that, he leaped and left his cave along with the last scary memories.

So... there you have a roaring dragon! I felt inspired and wrote this little thingy to go with it that I hope you enjoyed!
Here you have another piece of his story: he has really bad nightmares. Do they reflect real events? Are they premonitions? Or something more mysterious? We still don't know xD
In the meantime enjoy this beautiful piece of art I got from:

You did only what everyone else should be expected to do for their loves. Spiky and aching moments scattered, that eventually turned out to be a shadow of a past in form of a dream. We live day by day reminded of what we could have done or been, it's difficult to forget. We don't ever really forget because we care. A really good story you wrote, a pleasure to read! ^..^
True words my dear. Our past is always on the hunt, ready to attack us when we least expect... but what happened in the past should remain in the past.
We still don't know if this was a dream of past wounds still not healed or something else... mystery surrounds interesting blue dragon! I will write more regarding myself in the future ^^
Again, thanks, am happy you liked <3
