Becky yelped as the tentacle, moving faster than she could see, poked her in the finger. It didn't hurt but, her finger tingled oddly. Did it poison her? There were many, many things in the Outback that cause her fellow officers to wear black armbands.
The tentacles whipped back into the machine and the tingling increased. She was about to run back to her Land Rover when she began to feel very strange....
